A Very trustworthy set of Old Testament Volumes. The offer much in the way of placing the reader there, in that time, to help him or fully understand what the author meant by his words. Their beauty is that they cover the information well, but they are also very easy to understand. Their Deeper Discoveries section at the end of each chapter cover some important aspect more deeply, not that that section is more difficult to understand.

It is not as deep as I would have liked.

The Holman Old Testament Commentaries are such a good resource for preparing a lesson or as an individual aid in studing the Bible. I have several other more indepth commentaries but these are my "go too" commentaries when I want something easier to understand. I find the Holman commentaries to have just the right amount of detail 95% of the time. I find them to be very accurate. Max Anders shares useful illustrations that help apply the Scriptures to every day life. I add to my collection of these commentaries regularly.

I used Exodus as a continuation of the story of Genisis in my bible study. I did not use the entire book, nor did I use any of Leviticus, or Numbers.
