I was reading the NKJV Bible, and read a passage that did not make sense. So I went to Bible Gateway to look at the same passage in NIV. It made a whole lot more sense. So I bought this large print NIV Bible from Amazon, and am so happy I did.

Of course I had to make some changes by using my archival ink pens whenever it was called for. One example: In Matthew Jesus says He calls sinners. In Mark He does the same thing: He calls sinners. But in Luke, He calls sinners to repentance. Matthew and Mark should have the same thing that Luke has, because that is what Jesus said.

The large print in this Bible is good and large, but not distractingly giant. The last page of the Bible is Titled Table of Weights and Measures, and nothing else is back there but that. There is no useless Concordance that makes the Bible unnecessarily thicker. I like that.

There are small footnotes at the bottom of the pages of the Bible text that are informative.

Each verse is numbered but the text is in paragraph form.

There are small margins that make note taking challenging for many. Me, I write my notes at the top or in between paragraphs and draw a green line from note to verse in .005 archival ink. So my system for marking works good for this Bible so it is not a stumbling block to me. I always keep in mind that too many road signs is no different than no road signs.

The imitation leather is supple The Bible is compact and easily carried to church, and rugged enough.

I look at the Binding and at the two facing pages that are also glued to the cover. I will put strips of laminating strips on one side of those pages to strengthen them and will keep my eye on the glued binding as time goes. Glue gets old and pages separate in time. If needed I will get the glue book binders use.

All in all this is becoming my Bible as I make the necessary changes. It is the 1984 NIV version and not the 2011 version. That is the primary reason I paid for this particular Bible. It's a keeper.

I purchased this bible for my grandson and it definitely exceeded my expectations (all my previous bibles have also been Zondervan). I especially liked that the print was very dark and easy to read and felt blessed to be able to find a 1984 version of the NIV, since there aren't that many around anymore. The 1984 and versions previous are the only ones that still contain the complete word of God; subsequent versions of this precious Word have been compromised by the removal of "unnecessary" scriptures by the "powers that be."

It was nice to find a current version of the NIV Bible I had as a child in the late 1970s. It is a little thinner than mine but the cover and the pages inside, as well as the illustrations, were all the same. The only thing I wish this newer version had was the Bible timeline inside the front cover that it had when it first came out in the late 70s. I gave this copy to a family member as a gift. It is an accurate translation as well as being nice for kids, due to the illustrations. The binding appears to be high quality.

This is a fantastic bible and exactly what I was looking for. The cover is flexible 2-tone soft leather which looks and feels great. I can confirm that it is indeed the 1984 text, which was precisely why I bought this product online. All you can find in stores nowadays is the 2011 version which frankly I don't like. There is also an attached cord for marking your place.

I just purchased this Kindle edition. It's a decent NIV Bible from what I've seen so far. It navigates as easily as any other Kindle book in locating books and chapters. Before I bought this edition, I looked at a similarly priced NIV Bible for Kindle, and it was very difficult to locate chapters in a book (e.g. finding Genesis 35). The link takes you to Genesis 1, and it appeared to me that you needed to page through the book to find the chapter. This is not the case in this particular edition. Here, the chapters are easily located at the beginning of each book, which I appreciated. The only thing that I dislike at this point is the spacing and layout of poetry. There are large gaps between each line, and it looks terrible. You cannot view much of the (Psalm, for example) in one glance. It doesn't matter how the Kindle is oriented (portrait or landscape), the wide spacing is still there.

Overall, however, it's a great NIV Bible for the low price.

This is a nicely sized Bible, with illustrations and maps to pique the interest of your child. It is not, however, a simplified or abridged version of the Bible, which is helpful, as I want my daughters to hear the full, beautiful language and structure of the Scriptures. I liked the Kindle format, which displays the somewhat enlarged text in a single-column format across each page, rather than the conventional small text in a two-column format. This seems a little less intimidating for a young reader. I was disappointed that the print Bible used the conventional format. However, it would probably make a much more cumbersome Bible.
