Saint Francisco de Jesus Marto (11 June 1908 – 4 April 1919), his sister Saint Jacinta de Jesus Marto (11 March 1910 – 20 February 1920) and their cousin Lúcia dos Santos (1907–2005) were children from Aljustrel.
Saint Francisco de Jesus Marto (11 June 1908 – 4 April 1919), his sister Saint Jacinta de Jesus Marto (11 March 1910 – 20 February 1920) and their cousin Lúcia dos Santos (1907–2005) were children from Aljustrel, a small hamlet near Fátima, Portugal, who witnessed three apparitions of the Angel of Peace in 1916 and several apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Cova da Iria in 1917.
Jacinta and Francisco died within a short time after the 1917 visions. Sister Lucia and her cousins Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta show us that we need to be as children in our faith and devotion. Lucia became a Carmelite nun and lived on until 2005. She had numerous additional visions of Jesus and Mary during her lifetime which impacted the Fatima message, to an increasingly depraved world, of repentance or consequent chastisement. In these times, we need to heed the Message even more than before.

Jacinta died of influenza in Lisbon, offering her suffering for the conversion of sinners, peace in the world and the Holy Father. She was re-buried in the Fatima basilica in 1951. Their cousin, Lucia dos Santos, became a Carmelite nun and was still living when Jacinta and Francisco were beatified in 2000.
