Talk about Sweet Forever

Rosaleen has escaped from a madman who believes he owns her. She was married off to a man six months ago and has lived on various steamboats since then. She really didn't mind since her husband Donovan treated her well. But then one night she landed into a nightmare after Donovan was shot and killed during a card game by Bill McGurty. Bill took Rosaleen, forcing her into a degrading lifestyle of thievery and lies. She has become his plaything and feels as if she is all alone in the world. God has turned his back on her and she thinks it's because she's illegitimate and due to the horrors she has suffered from Bill's hand. She can't take Bill's abuse any longer and is ready to kill herself, but then she finds a way to escape. The boiler to the steamboat she's on explodes and she jumps overboard. She doesn't drown, but is saved by Jacob Hale, a reverend in a small town near the Ohio River. He's building a church where he hopes many of the townspeople will come and join his congregation. He finds Rosaleen unconscious on the side of the riverbank and helps her get medical attention.

When Rosaleen awakens, she met by Jacob who treats her with extreme kindness. As soon as she's recovered, she's invited to stay at a boardinghouse until she gets back on her feet. This is Rosaleen's chance to make her way up north and away from Bill, but she needs money. Opal, who runs the boardinghouse, needs help and soon Rosaleen is working there. She enjoys her work and the people there, including Jacob who goes out of her way to make her feel special to the point her feelings for him are beyond friendship. Jacob wants Rosaleen to join his church, although she has turned her back on God and feels she doesn't deserved to be accepted because of what she has suffered. Jacob will try his best to show Rosaleen she deserves God's love and his.

Sweet Forever by Ramona K. Cecil is a tender, inspirational romance I grabbed while it was free for the Kindle. Faith and spirituality are strong here, but it creates a nice balance in regards to the message of forgives and acceptance within the story. Poor Rosaleen has been dealt a bad lot in life from the moment she was born. She suffers in silence because she feels broken and used. Jacob comes into her life at the right moment to show her she's worthy of love, and soon enough these two fall in love. Jacob is willing to accept Rosaleen, but she's the one who is afraid to take what he's offering.

The other characters here really round out the story in a nice way and there is a subplot about the Underground Railroad for slaves that Rosaleen becomes involved in. Jacob is a wonderful hero and love interest for Rosaleen. Watching her open up and gain her self esteem is what makes Sweet Forever a lovely read. There is also a suspense factor because you don't know what has become of the nasty Bill and if he'll try and take Rosaleen back.

Sweet Forever is perfect for teens or readers looking for a subtle romance that embraces religion, faith and how love can set a person free from those shackles they place around their heart and soul.

This story is about forgiveness set before the Civil War. Forgiveness of themselves and others. Just like in life, we sometimes have to forgive people for jumping to conclusions. There were some interesting bits regarding the Underground Railroad. I thought it was probably a pretty accurate picture that the pastor wouldn't be involved in it, not because he didn't believe in it - but so he wouldn't have to lie to law enforcement. It was a sweet book where the conflicts are all resolved by the end.

Sweet Forever was a great reminder of the forgiveness that Jesus brings to us through salvation. Jesus died for all people, not just a few or those who are good. No matter what we have done or what family we were naturally born into--if we accept Jesus when he calls to our heart we will be saved and be born again into the family of God. I really appreciated and liked the use of Bible verses throughout the story.

Ramona Cecil created a beautiful story of a young woman trying to move beyond her past. She kept the storyline moving and gave her characters both depth and flaws. She also did a nice job with the secondary characters in letting you see them without taking away from the story. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

This is a wonderful story about a young woman trying to escape her past and trying to seek forgiveness.
She finds love with a preacher but there was a lot of misunderstandings which prevented them from being together.
I enjoyed reading it.

I truly enjoyed this sweet love story. I forget how much I enjoy just good simple fresh live storoes. I've been reading a murder mystery series so this was a welcome read. Great Book.

Ramona has penned a bell ringer! She did a great job of defining her characters....not too many nor too few. The story never lagged but held my attention to the end. I will definitely be a fan of this writer.
a short-ish romance where a woman who had been abused in more than one way in her life finally finds her place in the world. Nothing out of the world, but a pleasant read nonetheless.
