Thomas Keating has spent more than fifty years in sustained practice and devotion to the spiritual life. The results of this creative, humble activity are now summarized in this remarkable book, Fruits and Gifts of the Spirit. As Father Keating says, the spiritual journey is a gradual process of enlarging our emotional, mental, and physical relationship with the divine reality that is present in us, but one not ordinarily accessible to our emotions or concepts. The spiritual journey teaches us, first, to believe in the Divine Indwelling within us, fully present and energizing every level of our being; second, to recognize that this energy is benign, healing, and transforming; and third, to enjoy its gradual unfolding step-by-step both in prayer and action.

This book is a companion to "Open Mind,Open Heart" This book explains the "workings of the Spirit" in your soul as you practice
the inner search for God's Peace and Love by entering into a Silent Dialogue with this GREAT MYSTERY of GOD'S Presence.
This is also a book that is not something read quickly, it is a guide to help you to expand your relationship with the "inner silence"
within you, as you come to embrace God's Love. God is beyond Creation,His language is that of silence. Its like learning to live in
the present moment all day long, learning how you can share your daily activities with His Presence, a inner Communion sharing
your whole being with His Love for you and all men. Abbot Thomas Keating did a remarkable job of helping us find this search for Truth we have within us and how to awaken the desire to daily live it. Review by earl lowen

I bought this book for a friend of mine who is in a Centering Prayer group with me. Our group is reading Fruits and Gifts of the Spirit after our periods of meditation. Of all of the books by Fr. Thomas Keating that we have read, this one is our favorite! We always have great discussions after reading sections of the book.

It was a very good explanation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they work in our daily lives.
The Holy Spirit is the Person of the Holy Trinity that people don't know enough about. Keating does a good job of explaining who the Holy Spirit is and what He means to us.
