Again I must say that Tika Newman has brought to us a refreshing book of hardships, hope and enduring love and friendships. Anne has to live through the loss of a mother, an attack by a stranger and an absent father. Fearing a court ordered separation from her brother Billy, she finds the will to journey with him in search of their father. Realizing that he again has disappeared she starts her new life with Billy in Chicago. Filled with awe, wonder and dreams of success they begin their journey to adulthood.

This book combines historical Chicago and the trials and tribulations that face Anne and Billy. Relationships are born and carried into special friendships with loyalty and love. Chances are taken, dreams are ensued and the rewards are well earned. Hard work and determination are traits that help Anne realize her goals.

I got this book on a Thursday night and by Friday morning I was yearning for more. Again I can't wait for another book.

Congrats on another great book.

I can't believe I waited so long before reading this book. I didn't realize what a treat I was in for! Once I had read the first couple pages, I was hooked and absolutely had to finish it. The mingling of fiction and historical fact was intriguing. The detail of the characters and scenery made it easy to become part of the story. Can't wait to read the next book!
