Having worked for over 30 years in all kinds of companies, from small start-up to major medical companies, I have noticed one common denominator.
Challenging bosses!
I wish I would have had this book when I was just starting out, and it would have probably saved my job a few times.
It is hard to know what to do when you are working for a boss who acts like he is just getting rolling into his "terrible twos".
First off, the book gives great examples of boss behavior with examples and descriptions.
Next, there are great examples of how to not only deal with the behavior, but how to correct or turn it to my advantage.
Finally, Lynn Taylor has a knack of making the "classroom" funny and informative.
The examples are useful, easy to follow, and enjoyable reading.
Who knows, you might want to get your boss a copy with the important lines highlighted.

I bought this book in a effort to figure out what I was dealing with at work. My managers had began to act in strange behaviors lately. Behaviors they didn't exhibit when I first started working at the company. As one co-worker put it "the honeymoon is over and the real person has come out". I was confused as I thought it was something I was doing or wasn't doing. That's not to say I don't have personal room for improvement [we all do] but it wasn't just me. I finally came to the realization when reading this book that I'm dealing with TOT's. I had no idea this was even a thing or even existed. This book has given me some great strategies to combat and de-escalate the TOT's when they begin to throw their tantrums. It was eerie reading the descriptions as they described the TOT's to the T. No pun intended. If you're having a hard time at work, if a boss seems determined to make your life hell, check this book out. You may think its a personal attack on you but you might just be dealing with a terrible office tyrant.

This book is a God-send! It helped me get through a tough time at work. Instead of living in fear and anxiety of all the bullying at work, I began reading through this book to help me cope every day. At the end of the process, I became a stronger me! I learned to stay even calmer, remain professional and do solid work. We work for a living but we shouldn't be tortured at work and for our paychecks. If you're going through work stress with bullies at work, read this book and take back your life. You can leave the stress of work at work and make it less stressful!

I’m not easily impressed with business books. Although most of the ones I choose have the information I’m looking for, more often than not I have to read through a lot of unimportant trivia and or dry material before I finally get to the gems I’m seeking. Lynn’s book was a joy to read, the concepts were easy to understand, and so accurately describes the behaviors of a lot of managers and or “bosses” that it kept me intrigued from start to finish. A rare treat indeed. This book should be required reading before graduating high school or college. (It would have helped me save ions of time trying to figure out why people in positions of authority act so childish....and what I could effectively do to deal with and or counter act their absurd behaviors / situations.

The book provides good strategies and ways of categorising personality which are helpful for dealing with all types of people. Unfortunately the recommendation for my boss who is a bully is to change jobs! Not helpful. I would have liked to have seen better strategies for this type of personality because not everyone is in a position to change jobs.

This book covers so many types of bosses that I have had. But I never knew how to deal with them. So now I do. The author had fun with the subject. I even laughed out loud. I would recommend this book to people who are just starting out in the work force; to those who have to deal everyday with terrible bosses; and to bosses themselves because the information is very helpful. Maybe childish bosses will recognize themselves and change. That would be great! I could even add a few of my own terrible-tyrant boss types. Hope she does a sequel.

A good book, but it won't relate to the average joe like myself, who doesn't directly work under a corporate boss. For a normal office set-up, this isn't a good reference.
i started to read this, and realized it was time to get a new job. you should do the same! lol
