The Reys, however, took care not to allow their nobler intentions to overwhelm their beloved little monkey's blithely madcap appeal. From the first book to the last, George remains the most entertaining of characters-the ultimate innocent and incorrigible clown. For Hans and Margret Rey there was lesson enough for readers in the threadbare margin by which George survives his more spectacular pratfalls.

I love George. We have almost all of them. But this one? It goes too far! Usually George's behavior is silly mischief or ridiculous circumstances. In this one, they take a real life dangerous situation - an object floating away at the beach - and have George swim out far in the ocean to rescue it, returning to much fanfare. I'm usually pretty relaxed, but after this one we had a big conversation about how I can replace a toy but I can't replace them, and that George made a very dangerous choice that wasn't worth it.

This probably varies a lot child to child, but my 3 year old daughter is part fish and loves the beach. She also loves Curious George. But to buy the books individually can be pretty expensive. Which is why we own the two Curious George collections and have been reading them to our daughter since she was 2. For the money, you can't beat getting 16 stories for a fraction of the cost of buying them separately. But CG Goes to the Beach is not included in either of the two collections, and being that my daughter loves the beach, I gave in and bought this one individually. It's typical CG humor and every bit as good as any of the stories in the collections and, for us, definitely worth buying separately.

The George books are all awesome! Our 4 year-old son has liked every one, and we've liked them. They're pretty quick and easy reading, takes 3-5 minutes to complete, depending on how long he want's to look at each page after you're done reading them. But they are good, cute stories, just like the shows, he laughs out loud and comments quite a bit as we're reading. If you watch the show and haven't read any of the books before, they are very similar in style and look to each other, as close as a kids book to a kids show can be. No one book has been any better or worse than any of the others, they're all very good. We will probably end up buying them all.

Don't buy this if you have the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The format of this particular book is as follows:
- The first page will contain what appears to be a scanned page from the original book with extremely small text.
- The next page will contain an exact duplicate of the text from the previous scanned page.
The remaining pages follow this pattern through out the remainder of the book.

What a waste.

Our 3 year old grand daughter's FAVORITE TV character is Curious George! The only TV program that she is allowed to watch every day is 30 minutes of Curious George. Of course, now Curious George Goes To The Beach is her favorite book as they live close to the beach in Hawaii. This is the perfect book for the child who loves Curious George and the beach!

This book and Curious George himself takes me back to a gentler time. A time when I was young and a time when my son was young. He and I LOVE to read all about George's silly mishaps daily.

This book was an automatic favorite because we live in Rhode Island and live at the beach in the summer. So he would always take this book and his george doll down in his bag. These stories are filled with laughter and love, two things a child can't get enough of and there is usually even a good manners lesson taught to George too that they don't soon forget.

So, any of the Curious George series is a winner with our family...and we don't even live near the "man with the yellow hat". lol*

Have fun and make each night a night you read to your child...it's so important. I even read to him in the womb each night. He talked early and certainly knew my voice almost immediately.

A winner any way you look at it. : ) Thank you George.

My kid loves Curious George and the beach so we had to get this one. He loves the part where the bird starts to take George's food. Cracks up laughing every time we read it.
My nephew is realy into Curious George right now. He just came back from a trip to the beach which makes this a great gift for him. He is so much like Curious George, so curious and seeming to always get into trouble.
