LOved the service and and the book
I liked this one from cover to cover. It retells the tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff, this time using three Armadillo sisters trying to talk a coyote out of eating them by turning them into Armadillo Chilly, new shoes and handbags. The story is fast moving and the play on word, using local dialect is quite nice. I personally am rather fond of coyotes, so at first was sort of put off by the way the coyote lady was portrayed here, but as it all turned out well, I forgave the author by the end of the book. The kids in class seem to enjoy this one as I get requests for multiple readings. I personally like the illustrations, but do somewhat agree with another reviewer here in that they tend to be rather dark and could quite well be a bit upsetting to a very young reader. This is another reason for parents and teachers to closely review books their little ones read before they are read or shown to the child. They, the parents and teachers, are the best judge as to what their particular child or children can handle. Be-that-as-it-may, I liked the art work, found it very detailed and interesting and quite different. As a side, I was gratified to see that the young armadillo sisters were aware of what happens to their kind when crossing the highway. I do wish those little crittter around here could learn the same lesson.
