My 11-year old enjoyed all the books in the series. Finished them all in very quick time. Now his younger sister has got her teeth into them after hearing him rave about the books. For any parents out there trying to get their children to read over the summer, this series would be a good choice. This review is for all the books in the series.
I have read all of the Five Ancestors Books to date and really enjoyed them all. This one was no different. I actually thought this would be the end to the series...but....guess what! The story is an easy, enjoyable read. It is a good book with a little hint of romance between Hok and the Dutchman (maybe?). Lots of action and intrigue to keep you going and I can't wait for the next installment. The writing is tight and easily understandable even though it is explaining customs that the characters are tied to, it's never done in a boring way and I have to say you never really know what is coming next. However, we will be able to find out in February 2009 Five Ancestors #6: Mouse (5 Ancestors).
I always new that Ying would turn out to be good. I hope they get to his mother in time. This book started off kind of slow but it picked up the pace and stayed true to that pace for the rest of the time. Great ending!!!
*The Five Ancestors*-Eagle

Eagle is one of my favortie ancestor books the reason being is you get to see a differnt side of him.In the beginning he was probably not my favorite he seemed kinda annoying with all his trying to act "cruel".Later on the book he started chaning at first it dint seem to matter to me I could have cared less about his character, but when I started finishing the other ancestor books and got to him it was a differnt kind of Ying.I actually fell in love with the character that the author had wrote I never thought I would.

Ying was much differnt from all of the ancestors at first he seemed preditible as if I knew what he was going to do.Like in most of the ancestor books I wasnt really shocked at what they did,but as for Ying that was differnt.

The book in general was alot more differnt then I thought it wasnt your tipical romance one where everyone falls inlove and then they live happily ever after blah blah blah.It also wasnt the one where the bad guy always stays bad and has no soul. This book actually means something most books have a typical ending of a hero beng a hero, but in my personal opinon this one was much more then being just a hero.It also had alot of culture in it I thought that was one of the best parts learning some new things about the kung fu and such I loved it.
Iam most impressed thank you jeff stone for making an amazing book.
I enjoyed reading this series. I got hooked right away. There is adventure, heart and a good development of charaters in each book. I'm getting ready to read the latest one.
