Olivia stories are okay, but not up to the level of "Nate the Great" books for my 7.9 year old grandson. He likes girls as friends, but not to read about them, so I gave them to a 10 year old neighbor and she enjoys them.

My four year old loves Nate the Great. The stories are engaging, challenging and the characters are the right level of predictable and endearing. This spin misses all those marks. Olivia as a character is a poor recreation of Eloise. Think Eloise a few years older with knowledge of her privileged finances. The character of Duncan is obsessed with the world coming to an end, not exactly a theme I want to introduce to someone between the ages of 4 and 8. And poor Desiree is a pony-tailed blond that Olivia doesn't like based mostly on her looks. I am not sure that the target age group would be able to identify a peer as "depressing" and wished that the author had chosen another motivation for the conflict between Desiree and Duncan. We will be returning this item.

My 8 year old daughter was pleasantly surprised to discover that the main character in the story, Olivia, is cousin to one of her favorite book series - Nate the Great. Now, she's excited about continuing the both series to discover where they may lead. I've already downloaded the Nate the Great book in which he meets Olivia for the first time and can't wait to hear my daughter read it to me.
Thanks for making characters and a story line which helps her not only read but develop an enthusiasm for it.
