Kennedy is a great artist who really brings Star Wars to life here. He keeps the edge of Simonson, but has his own perspective.

Dark Empire was a series of comic books written by Tom Veitch and illustrated by Cam Kennedy. They were originally released by Dark Horse Comics between December 1991 and October 1992 as a 6-issue bi-monthly series, which were later compiled and sold as trade paperback. The name generally applies to both the original Dark Empire, as well as its two sequels Dark Empire II and Empire's End. All three comic series detailed the resurrection of Emperor Palpatine in clone bodies.

com speaks to Star Wars: Dark Empire writer Tom Veitch and cover artist Dave Dorman about their landmark miniseries. Tom Veitch, Cam Kennedy, and Dave Dorman (along with countless others who helped bring the books to life) bestowed on Star Wars fandom an incredibly visual, cinematic story that felt like a true successor to the original trilogy. And in so doing, they effectively set precedent and laid the foundation for nearly three decades of Star Wars stories - both narratively and visually.

This a great intro book to a trilogy that I have been curious about since I fisrt read the Jedi Academy books almost ten years ago. It has good pacing, action, and drama. I really liked the story and was amazed by some of the stuff that happened. The only flaw is that the color scheme is overly reliant on blue, red, and green, so the images do not look nearly as realistic as more contempory graphic novels do. But that is kust the personal opinion of someone who almost solely reads novels. Overall, it's a well-told, important Star Wars story at (usually) a good price.

A few of the voices are a bit lame, but otherwise the cast is very good. At times and abridgment cut out some important story elements, but over all it was very good.

I know some people aren't big fans of the Dark Empire stories. But for the most part, it's still good Star Wars fun. Yes, DE is a bit darker than the original films. Yes, DE2 rehashes much of DE1...but Cam Kennedy's art is worth it!

If you like Star Wars and like solid, unique graphic art, DE2 is worth picking up. HOWEVER, I will say, I picked mine up from Amazon used. Not sure I'd pay full price for it.

Really well done. Kennedy is a great artist who really brings Star Wars to life here. He keeps the edge of Simonson, but has his own perspective. Great story.

I can forgive low quality art for a great story or I can forgive a low quality story for great art, but this book was just lacking too much on both of these qualities. The art was certainly a distinct style, which works for some books, but in this book, it just made it hard to tell one character from another or grasp what was going on in a scene. The story was struggling just to be mediocre and it felt like the author hoped that repeating famous lines from the movies would be enough to float by.
I've heard about this book for years and was eager to read it, but was sadly disappointed.

I love the fact no one realizes that Jaina solo Jacen solo and anakin solo are all in this set and that this set represents most of the plot of the new movie the force awakens and that is without a doubt. If you are lucky enough to act on buying any of these Dark Empire II series of 1-6 before December 16 you will have a great investment. I have been buying these up for 1 year and in a few days they will be worth a small fortune good luck.

I remember it being a decent Graphic novel when I read it many years ago but I when listened to it on Audio CD it sounded like a truly infantile story. Suffice it to say I did not enjoy it.
