This is a great book. I didn't know about the different decision-making models before. It is really practical, and covers all life situations
This is a great book. It is really practical, and covers all life situations. I'm pretty intuitive in my decision making, so a lot of what Herring said I guess I do naturally. But I still found the real-life examples very useful, and I learned more about how to make decisions when there is not a clear answer. I'd definitely recommend the book to anyone who struggles with making decisions.

Having no clue what to do with your life is painful. The funny thing is that most of us don’t decide what we’re no longer willing to accept. It makes you question the very essence of your existence, reflecting on wasted opportunities or bemoaning some of life’s biggest and most brutal failures. If you’ve found yourself in a situation where you you don’t know what to do with your life, there’s still hope. Just because you don’t know the next logical step, it doesn’t mean that you can’t move forward. You see, a long time ago, I found myself in this situation. I had failed miserably. Even when things bother and annoy us, we just allow them to run their course.
Not knowing what to do is a particular and well-honed talent of mine
Not knowing what to do is a particular and well-honed talent of mine. I can even juggle several not knowing what-to-dos at once. For example, at the moment I don’t know whether to go away with my friends this weekend or not. And if I do will I take the train? Or get a lift? I don’t know whether to take that new job. And if I do, when should I start it? What about all those other job offers that will flood through the door the minute I say yes to this one? I don’t know whether to start the diet tomorrow.

What are you going to do with your life? It can be paralyzing to stare out at a world of boundless, swirling possibilities and choose just one thing from the mix; sometimes, it may not seem like there's anything worth doing at all. Try this: instead of looking at your life as some abstract thing that happens in the future, look at it as something that's happening right now, in this moment. Stop staring out at the horizon, and start swimming.
