Virginia Borden Maier teaches general biology for majors, evolutionary biology, zoology, plant biology, ecology, and conservation biology courses. Colleen and Virginia began to structure their lectures around stories they knew would interest students. When they began letting the story drive the science, they immediately noticed a difference in student interest, energy, and willingness to work harder at learning biology.

I Have to say that I got the deal of the century on this book with the access card for the price. The book came brand new and the access card worked perfectly! This book is normally over 150 dollars not including the access card and I got it for less than 20 dollars!!! I am still in disbelief that I actually own this book! I love Biology and normally I would have just rented it for my college class and returned it to save money but I found this book and access card for $17.49!!!! OMG! Thank you so very much for this special gift! I book is easy to read and even easier when you know that you only had to pay 17.49!!!

Doing my homework and realized I had to read page 435. There was no page 435. The copy I received was the copy WITHOUT physiology. Since homework was due on Monday I had to get an E-Book copy for 70 bucks. I was pretty disappointed for this mishap, as a student it is very important in terms of getting the correct materials.

Textbook arrived and was not what I was expecting. The description online was better than the actual condition of the book. Debating on returning feel I paid too much.

I needed it for a college course, it served well.

I rented this book for a biology class that I took last semester. I found the book very helpful and informative that after my class was over I decided to buy the book and keep it for my personal learning.

I think that Belk and Borden Maier did a great job writing this book. These two authors provide you with the information you need to understand biology and its implications in society. They use stories and current issues such as cancer, global warming, dieting and cloning to effectively teach biology concepts such as cell division, photosynthesis, ecology, genetics and evolution. If you like biology, this book will be a great addition to your book collection.
