Human Trafficking provides a critical engagement with the key debates on human trade. It addresses the subject within the broader context of global crime and the internationalisation of crime control. The book takes a broadly discursive approach and draws on historical, comparative as well as the latest empirical material to illustrate and inform the discussion of the major trends in human trafficking. The book helps to develop fresh theoretical insights into globalisation, exclusion and governance, and identifies a new research agenda that will ensure the book is of interest to advanced level students as well as academic scholars.

Very informative and scholarly. I disagree with the other review that this book is sensational.

I hated to buy this book because it benefits an industry that exaggerates and sensationalizes an issue that is blown way out of proper perspective. In the description of the book every myth and exaggeration fed to us by the rescue industry is used to promote sales. More people every day are seeing the exaggeration and misrepresentation of this issue. Google Somaly Mam for the best example. There is a Catholic website claiming the average age a woman enters sex work is 12 years old. That is extremely rare and to say that is the average age is ridiculous. There is website claiming the monthly murder rate for young women sex workers in one modest size Philippine city is higher than that of the annual murder rate for city of Detroit, Michigan. John Yoon, a regional manager of World Vision stated recently that organized gangs play only a small role in trafficking and women make their own decision to migrate for opportunity. This book does damage to an issue that has more to do with population explosion and lack of jobs for the world's poorest people than anything else,
