I am a former public school teacher and trainer who recently began homeschooling. Writing was not something that I worried about since I'd trained others on curriculums throughout my career. But I happened upon this book and now my philosophy of writing has changed 100%. This book can be used for several years of a child's development as it goes through writing techniques in small chunks. The first few lessons are all oral, then students will fill in a few words, later sentences, then paragraphs and more. 5 senses, feelings, parts of speech, questioning, research, opinions, different genres, spelling, vocabulary, as well as current events are all incorporated into lessons. While it is not a complete curriculum as it does not go over the writing process and the adult facilitator needs to have a writing background, it is a high quality book for working with kids on writing.
