Comprehensive Curriculum of Basic Skills Grade 6 By Kim Bibeau I loved this book. I teach English to a Japanese girl that spent 6 years in the Uni.

When they say "comprehensive," they mean it. We used this as part of our homeschool curriculum for the back half of our eldest son's first grade year. There's plenty of practice on key concepts, as well as great ideas and further extension concepts if your child is interested in a particular subject or idea.

Fantastic! You won’t believe how many pages this book has! Compared to other workbooks this one is XXL! I’m so pleased it’s all in color too, eye catching pages to keep the kids interested! Flipped though briefly to see the selection of work and at a glance it does appear to be comprehensive as stated! Thus far, totally satisfied! If it isn’t all I’m hoping I’ll update this review to reflect! I for one will be searching for more in this series, homeschoolers need this book!

I bought two copies of this book in July to use in homeschooling my first grade twins. This is our first year homeschooling, and choosing the right curriculum was daunting, to say the least. When I found this book, the pages reminded me a lot of the Saxon Math and Saxon Phonics worksheets my kids had brought home from kindergarten in public school, except that they are far more colorful. I decided that I couldn't really beat the price, so I gave the book a try.

As of this week, we are halfway through the book and moving right along. Based on my conversations with parents of first graders in the local public school system, my kids are actually ahead of their peers. The best thing is, they are EXCITED to do their school work each day. They often ask for more work in the evenings! If that is not a good review of this book, I don't know what is.

My one and only complaint with the book is that there are often not enough pages dedicated to a particular concept. However, I have found that it is easy and fun to supplement the worksheets with games that we make up on our own. For instance, when learning beginning or ending consonant sounds, we would have races to find objects in the house that began or ended with the target letter that I would call out. This helped to really cement in the concept that had been studied in the book and present the same lesson in a different form.

If you are teaching multiple children at home, I HIGHLY recommend getting each child his or her own copy of the book. I considered buying one book and photocopying the pages for each of my children, but the cost of the book is likely less than I would have spent on paper and ink. I also DEFINITELY recommend buying a 2 inch binder and tearing out each page as you work on it. The book is very thick and does not bend open easily... tearing out the pages allows for much better handwriting form and it allows you to skip back and forth easily from the math to the reading sections.

I bought this because I didn't feel like my child was being challenged enough in school. We work on a few of these each night and he really enjoys them. The directions are simple enough that he can read and understand them on his own; the questions are challenging enough to make him think and ask questions. I will definitely buy their 2nd grade book

PLENTY of WRITING, upon finishing this book my child wrote well. BUT, she the math REALLY lacked! 3/4 of the book was Reading, English and Spelling. I heard homeschoolers like these, but I looking back I would've picked a more well-rounded book.

I love these books, I order them for my children for every grade that they are entering into so they can work on the concepts that will be introduced the following school year or after the summer.

My son will be 5yrs old in June just in time to start kindergarten this coming school year, so since he didnt learn anything from pre-k in the school he was I decide to buy this workbook! I have done some homeschool activities with him and the kindergarten stuff was getting too easy so I decide to buy this activity book to see if was too hard for him and is not too hard!! my son love it and he is almost done in a month! If you want something to challenge your kid this is it!!!!
My son is in Kindergarten but he is well advanced so I bought this for him to supplement at home. The book is great and easy to use and he really understands it. It has a Reading, Writing, Spelling, English, and Math section and is 300pgs+. I rip out a page from each section and staple them to form a packet for him to do after school. It's right on track for Grade 1 material. My only problem was that there was writing in the math section and a good 20 pages missing from the math section as well. That is more of the sellers fault though. The book itself was fantastic.
