We have back packed for years and found that packing a motorcycle with our backpacking gear was the way to go...so this book didn't help in that regard, but the tips on how to load and other tips on tripping were something that added to out knowledge. So for seasoned riders, maybe not much help, but for novice riders it would be a great help...

The only way you could carry all the stuff they recommend is if you pull a small trailer, and even so you would have to be selective on what you take.

If you're a beginner to motorcycle camping, this book is nice. If you're a beginner to camping and to motorcycle camping, this book is an amazing read. For me, with experience with motorcycle camping, the book really only added a few things to my knowledge. However, I sometimes tow a trailer (yes motorcycles can tow trailers), and this book was actually fairly useful to me.

So, if you're a beginner, it's a 5-star purchase. It really helps you do everything from buying the right equipment to planning. I've read a few of the other motorcycle camping books, and this is the best, by far. If you're experienced, I'd pass, although for the price, it might give you enough suggestions (and even if you're experienced, that doesn't mean someone can't give you advice to do things better) to make it worth it. If you're doing some camping pulling a Bushtec or other brand trailer, this book is fairly useful.

My rating is a balance between the usefulness for me and the usefulness for a brand new motorcycle adventurer!

Explains a lot about the dos and don'ts of camping while riding. Hate to say it, but it convinced me that I never want to do this!

My Moto-Camping Bible. Living in Hawaii, I especially liked the section on dealing with critters as we'll be touring the mainland this summer. Great information & well put together.

The book offers a good intorduction to motorcycle camping (especially if you have a trailer or chase vehicle) and seems to focus on open field motorcycle rally camping and motorcycle resort camping. The new size and format seem much better than the first edition and several new photos have been added. But, chapters and much of the content are similar to the first edition.
