Suitable for both individual and group learning, Engineering Acoustics focuses on basic concepts and methods to make our environments quieter, both in buildings and in the open air.

The author’s tutorial style derives from the conviction that understanding is enhanced when the necessity behind the particular teaching approach is made clear. He also combines mathematical derivations and formulas with extensive explanations and examples to deepen comprehension.

Fundamental chapters on the physics and perception of sound precede those on noise reduction (elastic isolation) methods. The last chapter deals with microphones and loudspeakers.

Moeser includes major discoveries by Lothar Cremer, including the optimum impedance for mufflers and the coincidence effect behind structural acoustic transmission.

The appendix gives a short introduction on the use of complex amplitudes in acoustics.

One of the author's goals is not only to describe how the topic develops but also why a specific way is chosen. The explanations do not restrict themselves to mathematical formulas. Only the illustrative explanation relying on the reader's imagination creates comprehension

He now presents the English translation: Engineering Acoustics. it is a valuable source of information and reference for engineers and consultants working in noise and vibration control.

He now presents the English translation: Engineering Acoustics. Reading this book is really fun, particularly if one not only wants to apply formulas, but to deeply understand the physical background of acoustic effects. will surely become one of the standard textbooks in education and an important tool in professional noise control

Engineering Acoustics is a translation from German into ‘British’ English of Möser’s Technische Akustik. The result is a very readable and an excellent text. The book provides an excellent coverage of acoustic fundamentals. many references are given that applied to the theory and for further study. The book is excellent in dealing with noise control in interior spaces. He now presents the English translation: Engineering Acoustics.

I'm currently using this textbook in a graduate acoustics course I'm taking. So far, I think it's just OK, not the best, not the worst. The number of drawings is helpful to get the reader's head around the concepts. My big gripe, though, is the number of typos. The book is pretty littered with grammatical typos. Several omitted or extra words in sentences, most you can decipher through, some you can't. I understand it's a translation, but especially on the 2nd edition, the editing should be much farther along than it is.

However, even the grammatical errors are pretty unimportant compared to incorrect equations, and there are way too many of these too. Seeing as I've found probably 10 to 15 equations with typos at this point, I can't trust it - and an engineering text is kind of useless if you can't trust it. Sometimes it's as simple as a constant that wasn't carried over from a previous equation, but I've also found a few incorrect integrals. With better editing, the book could be much better, because as I said, it does have nice graphs/pictures and good explanations apart from the grammar.

Got it with discount. Amazing introduction for learning acoustics, well structured and explained, even good for self studying. A lot of printing errors but do not bother that much, if you have basic engineering knowledge to figure out what it is intended to be.
