This is a survey of recent research into the Rainbow Method in fatigue. The development of an overall method for evaluating the service life of engineering components subjected to fatigue loading has been greatly aided by the Rainflow Method. This cycle counting method, first proposed in the late 1960s is now the subject of further development. It has been applied to solve many problems, as a result of the great success it has shown in predicting crack initiation and propagation. A compendium of work carried out on this subject is presented in this book. Experts from all over the world have described the state of the art in the development and application of the Rainflow Method and associated techniques.
