This has got to be one of the best anthologies I've ever read. The concept was great: 7 authors, 7 sins. From the very first page I was impressed by the depth and originality of every story, and it started with a terrific forward that really set the stage and tone for what was to come. I enjoyed every single story, and though they were all centered around a common theme, each were strikingly unique.

Without spoiling the fun for others:

Wrath packed a punch with a modern day tale of a man reaching his breaking point; Greed blew me away with its unique and stylistic use of language in a story that really depicted how Ice can burn; Pride gave me an unexpected twist with its characters and fantasy feel; Lust left me blushing, and in awe of the author's subtle nod to religious lore in the character's names and behavior; Envy was an excellent exploration into the nature of man and I have a new ten dollar word in my language arsenal: Schadenfreude! Gluttony was an wonderfully engaging tale of a monster created and Sloth blew me away with masterfully crafted language and suspense.

I really can't pick a favorite, but I will say that Wrath was a great way to kick off the fun! The central character was surrounded by those falling to other sins- from lust to envy to greed and sloth - and these things all swirled together and created a perfect storm that felt all too real.

I cannot express in a review how ingenious each of these stories were; I highly recommend this anthology and gave 5 stars without blinking.

Seven Deadly Sins is probably my favorite collection of stories.

My favorites were Wrath and Envy. These authors really have a gift for storytelling. Their tales are finely tuned and driven by characters with depth. This anthology offers up a taste for ever reader: contemporary, paranormal, fantasy, you name it. These stories exude brilliance from their every style - each varies in beauty, expression, violence, and sex - and I am firm in my opinion that they joined together to make an amazing collaboration. Fans of the short story: you won't want to miss this.

I purchased Seven Deadly Sins because my on-line writer friend Tymothy Longoria is the author of "Envy" and I believe in Tymothy as a writer, visonary and supportive voice in the wilderness of writers who are working every day to have their words become "real" to someone else. I write. I seek the thrill of having my words in print, these writers present in "Seven Deadly Sins" have moved me to raise the bar for my own writing.
Each story is finely crafted and compelling, if I prefer "Envy" it is just a personal preference. Each Sin was explored in ways I found well paced and as dark as some are, enjoyable.
Proud to have it in my collection!

A tasty little anthology of seven authors offering seven delicious short stories that showcase their writing style. I thoroughly enjoyed each one: Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Pride, Sloth. Each tale highlighted a sin in a creatively unique way. Great job!

Adult fables. Short stories based on sin. Illustrations. Different genres. Wow. A heck of a concept.

The foreword by Braxton Cosby impressed me. He carried such a positive tone to introduce something as dark as sin. Wrath knotted my stomach. I loved this guy from page one of the story. Straight fiction based around one good guy having the day from hell. I still wish he were real just so I could hug him. Greed kept my heart racing. You could taste the temptation of the sin. The paranormal twist inside the story reminded me of the Twilight Zone. Creepy. Pride mastered the traditional fantasy realm with powerful dragons. Lust dominated paranormal and thrived from normal human urges. I gasped with the final words of this one. Envy carried an old folklore feel. A very dark story of moral demise. Gluttony carried a rather surprising innocence about it. A classic fairy tale sort of feel about it. Sloth ended the book with face-palms, a bit of comedy and a creepy underground society of creatures.

Yes, I did take a bit of self-evaluation away from these stories. In no way is this book a preachy sort of sermon. It was nothing less than entertaining. It is one of those reads that I will pick up again....and again.

I will also be checking out more from several of these authors. Without a doubt, I am a fan of Seven Deadly Sins.

This one was an intrigue for me, from the start. I must say I was in love with the idea of "Adult Fables" and the Seven Deadly Sins delivered! This was definitely one of those books that is hard to put down. All of the stories were well written, Character love was almost immediate with all 7. Where it pertains to the Sins, self evaluation will be imminent. Each author has succeeded in making you think and left you considering the fine line we each walk, daily. The world building in the fantasy stories were very well done. This book has something for everyone. I would love to discuss this particular book with anyone, especially which story was your favorite! Mine were "Sloth" & "Greed".

Bravo to the "Seven"...
