In "A Sound of Thunder", Time Safari, Inc. offers the greatest hunting trips ever--any year, any animal. But they don't guarantee you'll come back, or what you'll find if you do. And in "Night Call, Collect", who is harassing Emil Barton, the last man in the universe? After decades of waiting on Mars, these twisted phone calls could kill him! Winner of a Peabody Award.

The sign on the wall seemed to quaver under a film of sliding warm water. People called us up, you know, joking but not joking. Said if Deutscher became President they wanted to go live in 1492

I first heard these over fifty years ago and they are just as wonderful now as they were then. Even more so, because they bring back a simpler time, before computers, before cell phones, even before Kindles. Bought mainly since I had remembered the short story A Sound of Thunder, which I had read as a child. This story was as good as I had remembered, but the rest of the stories in the book, I am not as pleased with. There was one story in particular, that had a racial theme, that I had found a bit disturbing.

Books by Ray Bradbury. One day many years ago a man walked along and stood in the sound of the ocean on a cold sunless shore and said, ‘We need a voice to call across the water, to warn ships; I’ll make one. I’ll make a voice like all of time and all of the fog that ever was; I’ll make a voice that is like an empty bed beside you all night long, and like an empty house when you open the door, and like trees in autumn with no leaves.

Love this story but don't buy this book. Someone photocopied(half assed) and it's upside down. The whole story isn't there. Just random pages.

This is more a pamphlet than a book and it certainly isn't Bradbury's book (it's a Cliffs Notes type of thing). Very disappointing.

A one other reviewer says, this is not the book but something similar to cliff notes on a small passage from the real book. This needs to be made clear to the buyer, like myself, who thought this was the entire book.
Thiama
Real short. Boring.
Wenes
I bought these books to use in my ESL classes.
I haven't used them as yet (will do so in the Fall semester). I believe the books will help me to combine the challenge of authenticity along with the excitement of reading a 'sizeable' piece of literature.
Thank you!
