Part one. JOHANN WOLFGANG GOETHE was born in 1749, the son of a well-to-do citizen of Frankfurt. As a young man he studied law and briefly practised as a lawyer, but creative writing was his chief concern. In Goethe, German literature underwent a peculiar evolution from Storm and Stress to a new classicism or romantic-classical synthesis; and nowhere is this more succinctly documented than in the development, as we may trace it in the genesis of Part One, of his modern, highly personal yet historically momentous conception of the old Faust story.

It is a classical novel from a classical german author. It is a book very important within the World-wide Literature. Its reading is complex but very ilustrative of the men's ambitions, when it relates the relationship between scientific and the devil. I like the plot of this novel.

Definitely a true classic book, you should have one next to your bed.
The translation is not the best, is offset by the value in this version, you can sacrifice a little.

I like the way the author presents the psychological struggle between reason and uncontrolled ambition. The main character, in spite of having the necessary experience and level of education, succumbed before the hedonistic impulses of his superficial soul. I recommend this book to young and unexperienced people.
By reading this book, you satisfy your needs to read a very good book... It wont dissapont you... Its special... Very good
