In Mystic Dreamers, best-selling author Rosanne Bittner began a compelling saga with the meeting of Buffalo Dreamer, a holy woman, and Rising Eagle, a warrior whose powers were unmatched, for he had been blessed by the Feathered One.

Now, in a new story sure to enthrall both new readers and devoted fans, Bittner follows Buffalo Dreamer, Rising Eagle, and their children through the great Indian wars and the settling of the West, where, in addition to the risks and rewards of daily life, they and their Lakota tribe must face the influx of white settlers and soldiers into their lands and into their lives.

In Mystic Visions, we experience Buffalo Dreamer's increasingly powerful visions of the bluecoats and a coming war. We learn the fate of Little Big Boy and Never Sleeps, and of Never Sleeps's mother, Fall Leaf Woman. And we meet the one who is destined to lead the Lakota People in their greatest trial ever, Crazy Horse!

MYSTIC DREAMERS embodies the Native American spirit and portrays a time of change with sensitivity, accuracy . I'm a great admirer of Rosanne Bittner.

MYSTIC DREAMERS embodies the Native American spirit and portrays a time of change with sensitivity, accuracy, and a true sense of the cultural and mystical aspects of a proud people. MYSTIC DREAMERS is beautifully written and structured, and does much to break the novel of the West out of the confines of stale myth and the narrow alley of history between the end of the Civil War and the closing of the frontier; she will not accept that ghetto. Hers is the West of blood, tears, and transcendent dreams.

Talk about Mystic Visions (Mystic Dreamers)

Oh this book 2 held my interests as well as my heart! I am so proud of the Indians way of life and belief, I too serve Jehovah God! I am very proud of that fact.

My heart bleeds for what I know is coming not just for the very proud Lakota people but for all the Indians, it never should have come to this! If the white many would have just seen the Indians as brothers and asked to share not own the lands things would have been so different for all of us.

Think about it ... White men as well as other races have ruined the land, they have shown just how greedy man can be! They are never satisfied with what they have, they always want more and more! And they must own everything they see and touch.

They could have learned so much from the Indians if they had only been humble, but no, they had to insist that the Indians had to change to the white mans law and ways of thinking and living. White men has done this to every other race also, just look at the Blacks, Chinese, etc, etc. why? We are not the superior race! Jehovah made all men from one man and woman ~ Adam and Eve, so no one is better than the next one!

Anyway I'm on to the 3rd book Mystic Warriors! As sad as I know it will be I just know I will love it too.

I have been so touched by this story! I felt like I was right there. I even knew without a doubt what the visions of both Rising Eagle and his wife had each time, even as she was Star Dancer.
My name is Starr! I absolutely love Indian stories, especially the historical ones. I think I've said it before but my husband is part Cherokee (and looks like an Indian). I love him deeply and am proud to be his wife and friend! I am a very white paleface on the outside but inside I feel Indian. Thank you for this story. On on to the next Mystic book.

I love almost all the books by Rosanne Bittner; some are more action-packed than others. The "Mystic" series was a rather "calm" series -- wouldn't keep you up at night; but a nice story about a Native American couple living out their destiny, trying to keep "American Indian land" under their control for as long as possible, even though they realized the White Man's world was taking over eventually.

Her books take you right there. You see the scenery, you can hear the sounds, you get involved in the lives of these characters. They are not just "books" she writes, they are masterpieces! I feel like a part of me is kind of lost when I'm done with a book. No other auther grips the heart and soul the way she does.

Can't wait to purchase the other stories
Rosanne Bittner is one of my favorites so it wasn't hard to jump right in and start reading. This I consider a good start to a trilogy that follows with two more books. I thought it interesting that elements of Magical Realism, more often found in Latin American literature, were found in this novel. It actually surprised me..........though it was appropriate and added so much to the novel. Without it, the novel would really be just like any other American Indian story. Good Read.
