I decided to read this book immediately after finishing Ms. Goodman's Let Me Be the One (also reviewed by me on Amazon). I wasn't expecting the author to top her first novel in the Compass Club series, but she did--Everything I Ever Wanted was even better than its predecessor! The dialogue is really smart and complex, revealing the sharply drawn characters with their own words. The plot is both simple and convoluted, unraveling slowly to a shocking conclusion. Most compellingly, from a writerly standpoint, Ms. Goodman pulls off the novelistic version of 3-D chess, not merely segueing from the first novel in the series to the second, but having the events of the second novel overlap and unfurl simultaneously with the events of the first novel. I can hardly wait to see how/if she manages to maintain this feat in the third novel. Given the hand in glove nature of the two books, I would recommend reading them in order.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this author!
I've been looking for some well written adventure/romance and after SO MANY disappointments I think I've fallen onto something good!
I've read 3 of Jo Goodman's books back to back so far this week.
"Everything I Ever Wanted" has been my favorite so far. I love a smart/charming hero with a quick wit and a heroine with a personality and smarts to match it. This book has a suspenseful plot that isn't easily guessed. Jo's great at throwing you for a loop. I'm a fan of romance novels that build the tension instead of the H/h jumping in the sack by the 3rd chapter. The tension between India and South will make your hear pound. The characters Jo Goodman writes are so well developed, you'll forget they're not real people. This is the 2nd book in the Compas Club series and I really enjoyed how North's (book 1) and South's stories intertwined.

I'm extatic to see Jo has so many books!
I started with "More Than You Know", a seafaring historical featuring a family secret, a curse, hidden treasure, a sea captain paid to find it, and a blind heroine who refuses to let him leave her behind.
She had been on a research trip with her father on the very island the treasure is said to be buried. She was later found floating adrift, unconscious, and half dead (She'd been lost at sea for several weeks) only to awaken blind, with no memory of how she ended up at sea, or what happened to her father. The mystery behind locating the treasure is very well done. The twists, turns, and riddles will keep riveted.

Definitely give Jo Goodman a peek. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is a wonderful series! The high quality of characters and dialogue will please people who are bored with the usual historic romance. The passion scenes are well written and not too frequent. I loved the mystery.

All so well developed and connected. Weaving the stories together without making one book depend on the previous is an amazing talent.
Halloween
Not perfect leads makes this series more enjoyable and believable. Books flow one unto another while happening at the same time
