The Chocolate Debutante book. I used to really like Marion Chesney's romances back in high school, but twenty years later this just seemed kind of stupid.

Now she really had to act the part of chaperone every time the pair got together ich Susan airily said, Fiddlesticks! What can you possibly know about it, Aunt?. She began to long for her old life. Charles had just left for the country, however, to secure Susan’s parents’ permission, although that had already been given by express post, and Harriet was looking forward to a more tranquil life

Talk about The Chocolate Debutante

Another fun read from Chesney/Beaton! The heroine's niece is addicted to chocolate and ends up in some funny situations because of it. She likes her aunt and becomes interested in seeing her happy with the hero, so ensures their misunderstanding is resolved. There's a bad guy, some jealous-cattish bluestockings and two romances to keep the story entertaining. I liked this, but my favorites from this series are The Dreadful Debutante (The Royal Ambition Series, Vol. 1) and Lady Margery's Intrigue (The Royal Ambition Series, Vol. 6).

** Clean story with nothing beyond kissing.

I believe this story was written just to make the ladies hate Susan who ate chocolate but maintained her perfect complexion and slender figure. Take heed, ladies; I filed this one under "Fantasy"!

Ms. Chesney's stories are clever and always seem fresh and new. This story of Harriet and her beautiful niece, Susan, was a delightful pleasure. It had a bit of danger and intrigue and lots of interesting characters to keep the kettle aboil.

I have never been disappointed by one of her books.

This was a fun ride! A Maided aunt takes on a golden prize of a niece...with much to learn...and a chocolate crave! Lots of fun to see the Aunt find herself in it all as well as a man to love too!

Even formula plots are entertaining when written by MC Beaton. This one is no exception. Rakes, villains, spinsters with passionate lips, tra la...

This was a fun read! As well written and well researched as most of Ms Chesney' s books are. A very solid plot, great characters, and a dash of history combined to make one of the best regencies I have read in awhile. I loved the heroine. She was perhaps a bit naive, but that was believable for the time period. I liked Susan even if she was a tad ridiculous. The Hero was perfect, loved him a lot! Very very highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.

The Chocolate Debutante is a very amusing, very warm romance. I'm glad that Ms. Beaton chose to leave most of the warmth to the reader's imagination, so I didn't have to skip to the end of the story to find out who ended up with whom. Thank you, Ms. Beaton, from an old fashioned fan.

Early M.C. Beaton series of regency romances. Combines her usual wit, humor, and unusual plot devices.
