LibriVox recording of The Book of Wonder, by Lord Dunsany (Edward J. M. D. . Plunkett). Read by Greg Elmensdorp. Dunsany, and especially this book, deserve a reader, an actor, of high merit; not a well intentioned amateur. If you don't mind a droning emotionless voice reading great fantasy stories, then this is for you! As an added bonus, it sounds like the reader was chewing gum, or had some annoying popping mouth malady that made me want to pierce my eardrums.

Edward J M D Plunkett. The Gods of Pegana is an invented pantheon. This slim book by Lord Dunsany has been tremendously influential, having inspired illustrious personages such as .

Edward J M D Plunkett. And the original illustrations by Sidney Sime are classics by themselves. I have been wanting to read this book for a long time, but the actual reading left me a wee bit disappointed; as this is not a story, rather an idea for one. Dunsany has done a tremendous job of world-building.

Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett was an Anglo-Irish dramatist, short story writer, and novelist, whose many popular works combined imaginative power with intellectual ingenuity to create a credible world of fantasy. Dunsany's first published book was The Gods of Pegana (1905), which was followed by Time and the Gods (1906). In these works he invented a set of gods and an accompanying body of myths. In 1909 W. B. Yeats urged Dunsany to write a play for the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, and Dunsany reluctantly complied with the writing of The Glittering Gate, produced the same year.
