As literature the book was a disaster, but it was the most instructive and enjoyable failure I’ve ever experienced. One paragraph was SEER’S summaries of the The Collected Works of William Blake. No two of my programmatic summaries of Blake or of any other input were alike, which wasn’t a sign of my code’s effectiveness but of its reliance on randomness. I submitted the completed novel to five agents, all of whom turned it down.

The poem America a Prophecy on pages 51 to 59 with canceled plates and a fragment mentions some early Americans but the myth is stated on plate 8: The terror answered: I am Orc, wreath'd around the accursed tree: The times are ended; shadows pass. People who have seen movies about hobbits might have more gut reaction than anyone who saw this poem when it was printed by William Blake in 1793. So many things about the culture of dead European men were in flux while Blake lived from 1757 to 1827.

It is now expanded to include a new foreword by Harold Bloom, his definitive statement on Blake's greatness. Largely unrecognized during his lifetime, William Blake (1757-1827) was a visionary English poet, painter, and printmaker. His wide-ranging influence can be seen in genres from theology and literature to popular music and graphic novels.

Very well worth the read. Furthermore, anyone who's interested in republicanism and democracy should put this great book on their shelf. I am certainly pleased with the scope of this work, but the book itself was not very well bound. I bought two copies of this book -- one for a gift and one for myself. It was good that I did so, because the binding on the first one was detached from a block of pages as I first opened it up -- the second one appeared to have been intact and more suitable as a gift although I suspect the binding on it as well will soon become detached from pages.

This is poetical lyrical gold. Others no doubt have already mentioned this with far more depth and breadth than I could ever hope to convey.

I would recommend this book of poetry to anyone who is interested in the mysteries of life. One concept by William Blake that will be stored in my mind is that one must draw his or hers own conclusions and find their own way or else to forever become the slaves of someone else's thoughts. Required a little study for me but will continue until I finish. Well worth the read.

There's not much more I can say after reading the reviews below, except to agree that this is _the_ book to own if you're wanting to add William Blake to your library.
This is a large book, clocking in at around nine hundred pages. Within you'll find all the great poetry that makes Blake, well, Blake. The "Songs of Innocence and Experience" are truly wonderful, as is "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell".
Lots to read here beyond than the known works, including miscellaneous poems, songs and verses and sataric verses and epigrams, even letters that Blake himself wrote.
The book is neatly organized and easy to navigate, making the section you're looking for a snap to find. At the back of the book are sections with textual notes (a small "t" is marked throughout Blake's works), and commentary (a small "c"), also marked. Invaluable resources to help understand and navigate the complexity of Blake's poems and prose. An index of titles and first lines is also included in the back.
All in all a wonderful collection for any Blake fan to own and for the curious to lose themselves in the majesty that is William Blake.

Thorough, simple, clean, and durable. Simply the best collection of the works of this romantic genius I have ever seen. I cannot praise William Blake or this edition of his masterpieces enough.

It's poetry, so I'm not sure how much more to say. I enjoy the rhythm of the stories.
