Talk about 101 Famous Poems

We ordered this book for my elderly mother in law who was confined to bed the last 8 months of her life. She wanted to keep her mind sharp and her childhood memories included memorizing poetry. Her favorite was Paul Revere's ride. Memorizing and reciting some of these classic poems was a welcome diversion from TV. I would recommend this book for younger children who just might like the challenge

I have had this book for many years. I bought a copy for a friend when I saw it on Amazon. It has some of the most beautiful and thought provoking poems ever written. A myriad of different authors (the best poets) and many different themes...It's a great mix of poetry and creates lovely images in my heart and mind....Really a great book to have around when one feels like looking at some of the important things in life!

My kids grew up listening to the poetry on these pages. It continues to be one of my most treasured books. It's a wonderful assortment of poetry and a perfect place for someone to start reading from the greats if they are unfamiliar with this art. The inclusion of "A Psalm of Life" alone is worth the purchase of this wonderful little book.

I am certainly the last guy to come to mind when you think about poetry, but I wanted a book that could introduce me work that might spark an interest. This is a great book, and I'd reccomend it to anyone who wants to explore poetry.

This book has a nice collection! I haven't read all of. The ones I did read are great and I recognized several good ones. It's meant to be a Christmas gift to my grandfather so I really only opened it to see if he'll like it. I think he'll be really happy with it and I'm excited for him to open it. I might even buy myself a copy!

I like poetry, especially these. My first copy of this book was in 1951 at a PX at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Tx. I've since given several as gifts. Some poems are funny, some are stories, some are famous even used by the NFL in one of their ads. Some of these make you think. This book has one of the better collection of poems.
I have owned this little book of poetry since I was a freshman in high school more than 40 years ago. I purchased this copy as a gift for my cousin who is also a lover of poetry. She told me she read it through when it arrived in the mail and liked it as much as I do. My favorites are The Fool's Prayer by Edward R. Sill, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Longfellow, I Have a Rendevous with Death by Alan Seeger, The Minuet by Mary Mapes Dodge, The Spires of Oxford by Winifred Letts and The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I have read and re-read these and many others and can recite some by memory. A delightful little book of classic poetry.
