by William Shakespeare. The final play in Shakespeare's masterly dramatization of the strife between the Houses of York and Lancaster, Richard III offers a stunning portrait of an archvillain-a man of cunning and ruthless ambition who seduces, betrays and murders his way to the throne. In the process, Richard delivers great speeches and engages in formidable confrontations with a large cast of characters, almost all of them caught up in the terrible struggle for power that dominates the play.

Fourteen comedies were collected by Shakespeare's fellow actors in the First Folio of his complete plays, published after his death.

Fourteen comedies were collected by Shakespeare's fellow actors in the First Folio of his complete plays, published after his death. The majority of them had titles evocative of an idea (All's Well That Ends Well, Love's Labour's Lost, Much Ado About Nothing) or a time of year (Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Winter's Tale).

Shakespeare's productivity rate slowed in the Jacobean years, not because of age or some personal trauma, but because there were frequent outbreaks of plague, causing the theaters to be closed for long periods. These were written after Shakespeare's two final solo-authored plays, The Winter's Tale, a self-consciously old-fashioned work dramatizing the pastoral romance of his old enemy Robert Greene, and The Tempest, which at one and the same time drew together multiple theatrical traditions, diverse reading, and contemporary interest in the fate of a ship that had been wrecked on the.

Heigh-ho, broth'r, thee wanteth something most wondrous to readeth? thee should receiveth these books. I purchased these books to brush up on mine Theater. I readeth a few in High School. As an aspiring actor everyone should knoweth their William Shakespeare. Each booketh is most wondrous to bringeth along with thee, or throweth into thy container. Avoid the garbage of today's reality television and readeth history of the Globe Theater. After reading these books and I see many of what todays TV Dramas art based upon.

Awesome collection of Shakespeare plays for a great price and gives merely the plays unabridged themselves without forwards/afterwords. This set hits the quintessential Shakespeare plays and includes all of the central Four Great Tragedies. The box itself is rather flimsy, but this is Dover Thrift and we aren't exactly here for the box; nothing arrived to my house damaged so I can't complain. So glad I made this purchase versus purchasing each play individually!
Gholbirdred
Good collection of Shakespearean plays is needed to learn all them. I like to have them all in one place and organized in a system.

The books are very compact and I am content with the order. Reading does become a little bit more challenging since the names are cut off and not in bold, but everything else, it's perfect. Just a little note, if you want a translated version, this is not it. It's verily easy to understand Shakespeare, but some might have a problem.

It is what I was looking for. The box it comes in is firm and I like its presentation. The cover art of each of the books is nice. It fits my needs since I was looking for a box set that would include the Shakespeare plays I would be reading, which I've enjoyed all, and it was more convenient than buying each play individually.

Best is the price--makes up for the rather small print.

Great set for the money. Not the greatest quality and the print is not amazing. However, really, for this amount of money - great to have.
It is a wonderful collection! I loved reading these great plays in such a beautiful format! This elegant and attractive edition makes you want to reread all these plays again and again.
