Elder Trust Williams was born a member and grew up singing "I Hope The Call Me on a Mission." But nothing at the MTC could prepare him for the mission call to Thelma's Way, a backwater town in Tennessee. And nothing could prepare him (or you) for the hilarity that ensues - or for the fact that he would grow to love this big bunch of misfits, one of them in particular..... Two years never flew by so fast or so fun.

All Is Swell: Trust in Thelma's Way (Trust Williams Trilogy)

All Is Swell: Trust in Thelma's Way (Trust Williams Trilogy). When Trust Williams' two-year transfer to the backwater woods of Tennessee came to a close, he thought he was returning to civilization. After all, the folks in Thelma's Way thought the Internet was the extra stitching on the backside of long johns. But lately, Southdale seems just as zany as any backwater, just in a different way. And Trust is starting to doubt himself, his family, even the girl by his side. Series: Trust Williams Trilogy (Book 2).

Trust in Thelma's Way. Thelma’s Way, Tennessee, might as well be a foreign mission according to Elder Trust Williams. It’s a town known for a bunch of Mormons who got lost on their way out of Nauvoo, famous for some bad ham that got Parley P. Pratt sick enough to stay a while. Take the local branch: Brother Heck takes up living with the chickens and ‘tars and feathers’ himself with housepaint. There’s Clee Dee, Narlette, Digby, and Feeble.

This is a novel of a young Mormon man (Trust Williams) going out on a two year mission for his church. He is assigned to a small town that can only be reached by hiking into the Tennessee valley where it is located. Unexpectedly, he spends his entire two years (minus a final month in Knoxville) in this same small town. Despite the fact that the details of the story are all 'over-the-top' silly, the heart of the story feels very real - and that is an accomplishment. Trust is a likable and ultimately kind character that made me want to keep reading

I listen to this book on tape years ago. It was so funny! A very enjoyable book. Our family enjoyed it very much. We liked it so much, I purchased the sequel book--which we enjoyed also.

This particular purchase was to give to a nephew who is homebound, trying to recuperate from some difficult cancer surgery. I still haven't gotten it to him. I will soon. I trust the book will be very enjoyable for him too. He needs some laughs right now to lift him up.

I read Falling For Grace years ago not knowing it belonged in a series. Love Trust the main character. Thanks for making me smile with these books.

Great book, glad put on e-book, but seems oddly edited from real book.

Book came in great condition. Humorous and enjoyable story for those looking for a break from the normal day to day life.

Once again, Smith has created as a hero, an inarticulate Mormon young man. This time he's a missionary, leaving the typically atypical mom and dad for his two year mission in Tennessee. Those he encounters are universally physical and mental oddities without a normal human thrown to stabilize the too-thin plot and teen-age dialogue. This should set back missionary work in the Volunteer State by fifty years, if Tennesseeans make the connection.
And I am further left to wonder if the red Kool-aid sect behind the Wasatch Front really believes that the rest of the country is populated by this type of characature.

I thought that this book was one of the most humarious, and fun books that I have read in a long time. I really appreciated his writing style, it was truly unique, and i loved every chapter of it.
I agree with the reviewer from Virginia. All is Swell is not as good as Miracle of Forgetness. However, I do not believe that is the fault of Robert Smith in any way. I think it is his publisher on this project, Deseret Book. Anyway, back to the book... This book is still GREAT! All is Swell should be required reading for future missionaries. It teaches that you have to learn to love the people you serve no matter how bizarre they may be. I love the characters from this book.
