Aileen and Cassie both took a Friday afternoon off to look at the flats Laura had ringed in the paper. Laura had gone to a few places because she was not back at college yet, but she hadn’t seen anything she liked. The greatest kips, I can tell you.

One of the best books I have ever read. It has all the elements of a future classic. The characters are well written and as the story goes on you become one of the characters.

Talk about Finishing Touches

This is a story about the long term friendship of the protagonist with 3 girls she's known since primary school, and also her relationship with her large Irish family.
I didn't enjoy this book so much mostly because I just didn't like the main character I found her to be so judgemental about everyone and such a martyr herself. I found that most of the characters were just one-dimensional; "good", "selfish", "loyal", "immature" etc. I found it hard to believe some of the decisions that were made by some of the characters.
i stopped reading patricia scanlan for a while but this book has renewed my interest in this author. without being too much of a spoiler I LOVED IT... it was a great read start to finish and i couldnt put it down. follows the complex issues of families with jelousy , relationships but lots of twists and it kept me hooked from start to finish.. great book to read if your looking for something light for your holidays
Loved this book, I couldn’t put it down! Patricia Scanlan is my new fave author and I’m reading as many of her books as I can find! I love the setting in Ireland, love the strength of her women and their REAL lives they lead! And enjoy the plots and plans that all work out so well...but not without some heartache along the way.
as usual Patricia Scanlan did not disappoint me. Love her story telling and this book kept me interested from start to finish. Lovely story about 3 great friends from schooldays right up to adulthood, how they supported each other through family troubles etc.
Another great read. You can really identify with the characters. Lots of ups and downs as in real life situations.
I have read all of her books now and feel sad that I haven't another one to look forward to.I find she write in a nice easy manner and the connection between family members is so real. I would recommend this to any female looking for good story to curl up and read.
The characters are well written & become quite real with all their flaws & upsides, and how they handle their lives. Some lovely philosophies woven into their stories - thanks Patricia Scanlen ☺️
A lovely book, I enjoyed it very much, makes you feel happy for Cassie, after all she went through. Great!
I loved this book from start to finish. The characters were so interesting.
