The ultimate book for the diehard fan, Hoosiers: The Fabulous Basketball Life of Indiana explores Hoosier hysteria .

The ultimate book for the diehard fan, Hoosiers: The Fabulous Basketball Life of Indiana explores Hoosier hysteria in all its glory. Phil wanted to know what it was like to still have people be so interested in a guy who made a basketball shot in a high school game played over 60 years ago. I told him that it still baffles me, but it is humbling that people from all over are still fascinated by the shot, the game, and me! To reach the state final game we played and defeated Indianapolis Crispus Attucks High, one of two racially segregated high schools in Indiana at that time.

I read the 1st edition in 1.5 days...jumped at the chance to read more. I'm a native-born hoosier and a big basketball fan. Every native hoosier who loves baskeball should read.

I've tried to get someone to solve my problem of never receiving this book and still no answers and still no book. Should have received middle of December and can't get them to get back to me or ship to me. Not happy!

This is perhaps one of the most fun and in depth reads of basketball in the state of Indiana. As the saying goes "If basketball is your religion then Indiana is your church." The book is divided into chapters, and each chapter has two-four stories about the game's significance in that area. For example, there was a chapter on "The Region" the focus is on Baratto (East Chicago), Bo (Velt) and Big Dog/ Heflin (Velt). In fact, some of the major parts of Indiana basketball history are discussed, including: Crispus Attucks, the Milan Miracle, IU/Purdue (state divided), Trester, the Farm Boys, Larry Bird, and Rick Mount. The only reason I did not give it a five is because the writing style is that of middle school and doesn't challenge the reader to expand their grammar and vocabulary. In addition, some parts of the book gave it a more cartoony feel than an actual serious history book. However, for an enjoyable read and brief lesson in Indiana basketball, this is a steal.

IN THE STATE OF INDIANA, BASKETBALL IS THE STATE RELIGION.
THIS IS A VERY GOOD BOOK IF YOU HAVE LIVED BASKETBALL OR IF YOU HAVE LIVED IN INDIANA. I HAVE LIVED BOTH.
