This is a true crime written somewhat similarly to Ann Rule. A pair of victims, Diane Hawkins and her daughter, Katrina Harris, are brutally murdered. It is Kevin Flynn's job as a DC prosecutor to put the alleged murderer behind bars. In his tale, Mr. Flynn expresses outrage at their horrific deaths and loses the cool mask of distant prosecutor. He becomes involved with other family members and friends of the victims and contrasts their closeness to his own small family's experiences with his father's impending death and birth of his first child.

This book is clear and well written, although it will take some readers a bit to "get into" the book. Stick with it, it is well worth the read. I have bought this book for numerous friends and all have appreciated this thoughtful, insightful read.

This is definitely one of the best books I have read this year. I must commend Kevin Flynn's writing, he made me feel like I knew him personally. He obviously poured his heart and soul not only into the trial, but into the book itself. When I purchased this book I thought it was Kevin Flynn the writer/author, I was mistaken but not disappointed. This book touched me in a way I was not expecting and when I was done I had a different perspective on many things. Not only is Kevin Flynn a great Prosecutor and writer, he is obviously a great man.

I am very impressed with Kevin Flynn and happy that he has gone on to reside over the court. He presents as compassionate and extremely thorough in his years as a prosecuting attorney. This book is well written and does not veer from the facts into the mire of unnecessary details as many true crime books do just to fill the page.

This was a good story made very interesting by a good author. I enjoy true crimes. I especially liked how the author had a family story of his own to tell and how well it was woven into this crime story. Good read...

This book about a double murder has no suspense or surprises. The murderer is caught easily within a few weeks of the crime; no new evidence surfaces after it. Indeed, what's surprising is there is only circumstantial evidence and very little at that.

A good case selection, in-depth, interesting and well written. It put the author on my list of books to read.
I enjoy crime novels and this was exceptional. Life isn't fair and every ending isn't happy. If you enjoy true crime than this is a good read.
