Bought this as a genealogy reference; and although it has not been helpful to me in finding information about the families I'm researching, it may be helpful to those whose families were more prominent in the area. Some illustrations are not legible as this edition has been scanned from an older orginal printing.

I bought this book for family history purposes since my paternal line came from this area in South Carolina. I have found the information very detailed and interesting. The author has documented all his sources and been careful to say how the got the information. It contains the history of many orginal families who settled there and how their association with England affected their lives and the causes for the Revolutionary War. The author also gives great detail of the Revolutionary War battles in that area.

While the "text" appears to be close to the original, this reprint is missing some key drawings and some summary information. Not bad for the price though.
