As this is an historical guide, there is no information regarding hotels and accommodation. It is therefore vital that you complement it with another guidebook (footprints probably remains the best). Used Lonely Planet for general country info and info on cities, Monuments of Syria to understand what we were looking at when there and Bradt Guide to round things out and for backup.

Around 40 villages grouped in eight archaeological parks situated in north-western Syria provide an insight into rural life in Late Antiquity and during the Byzantine period.
