Stephen Fry's secret wife speaks out at last...Enjoyed a nice cuppa this morning with a HobNob and Jeremy Kyle. There was a woman on there who'd been married 16 years without realising her husband was gay. Extraordinary! Which reminds me, it's our 16th anniversary in a few weeks. What a coincidence.Stephen Fry - actor, writer, raconteur and wit. Cerebral and sophisticated, a true Renaissance man. Or is he?Finally, his secret double life - the womanizing, the window-cleaning, the kebabs, the karaoke - is exclusively revealed by Edna, his devoted wife and mother of his five, six or possibly seven children. These diaries take us through a year in the life of an unwitting celebrity wife, and are rumoured to include: - scandalous nocturnal shenanigans- advice on childcare- 101 things to do with a tin of Spam.'A good diary should be like a good husband - a constant companion, a source of inspiration and, ideally, bound in leather.' - Edna Frytwitter.com/MrsStephenFry

Edna Fry facetiously claims to be the wife of Stephen Fry (who is, in reality, homosexual), and mother to their many children.

Stephen Fry: 'he could have knocked out this novelty aimed at the unthinking Christmas market overnight'. It has been tempting to assume that Stephen Fry is behind this spoof diary written by his "wife". The publishers are still too busy chuckling behind their hands to say anything, but there is a teasing foreword by Fry, and the writing does strain towards his fruity, avuncular, satisfied prose.

I love Stephen Fry's acting and wit but this book badly misfired. The premise is that this is a diary by his fictional wife and it works for the first 25 pages or so and they are laugh-out-loud funny. The wife's entries are witty and tinged with off-the-wall humor... then it just gets repetitive and unfunny. How many times must we read that Stephen goes to the pub in his pajama bottoms or forgets his pants altogether? Funny once. Sort of funny twice. Not funny a third time. The humor gets lamer and lamer as it progresses, the puns get less witty, and I found it a chore to finish the whole thing.

We followed the tweets of "Mrs. Stephen Fry" (Brit actor/writer Stephen Fry's fictional "wife") all along, so of course we wanted to get "her" collected tweets in the form of this fictional journal-- very funny stuff, the observations & tribulations of Fry's imaginary wife who constantly has to "put up with" Fry's own fictional shenanigans & their imaginary kids (particularly funny if you know anything about Fry himself and how he's NOTHING like how he's portrayed in these funny entries!). Worth reading for a fun & fast read! :)

Stephen Fry is witty and clever, though I suspect he doesn't like being called that. This book is a romp through twists and turns in a reality only Mr. Fry could come up with. I highly recommend this book and can only say do not be swallowing any liquid while reading because it may end up splattered all over your book or kindle.

I enjoyed "How to have an almost perfect marriage" more than the diary, but this book was still fun and amusing. The diary format makes it perfect for reading when there are just a few minutes free here and there in the day. As it's a diary, I wasn't expecting any sort of story ending so I was very pleasantly surprised by the last entry!

It's a mistake to read this in public. I did, and practically injured myself trying to stifle the laughter. My favorite line from the whole thing, "I'd be far better off occupying my mind with something more intellectually demanding. Maybe I'll search for something. I'll try Ask Wooster..." Brilliant.

This is an ideal book for one who wants a quick laugh as it can be read in one evening.

Not as good as his other novels in my opinion. Kind of a goof. Didn't finish it.
I love Stephen Fry's humour and this was no exception. It was a little silly, but I liked that too. When are we going to get installment 2>
