The acclaimed author of Original Cyn finds fertile ground for her wicked wit in this ferociously funny new novel about babies, sex, celebrity...and daring to date a gynecologist.Ruby (still single at thirty-two) Silverman has made a name for herself at Les Sprogs, her exclusive baby boutique where trust-fund mothers swaddle their infants in the hottest designer wear. But all those bumps and babes can’t prepare Ruby for the bombshell her fifty-year-old mother drops on her: Ruby’s about to get…a baby brother or sister! When Ruby recovers from the shock of her mother’s pregnancy, she can’t help but question her own baby-making future. Is catering to celebrity moms and cooing over her friends’ kids all she has to look forward to? Sam Epstien would passionately disagree. He’s the gorgeous Jewish gynecologist who has set his amorous sights on her. Soon they’re seriously involved, and life seems to be looking up for Ruby. Until she stumbles upon a shady baby-brokering business that could erupt into a major scandal, derail her career, and maybe even force her to toss the supposedly perfect man out with the bathwater.

It was the following morning and Ruby and Chanel were getting ready to open the shop. Do you think I’m boring?. You’re the least boring person I know. Ruby could feel herself blushing at the compliment. Of course, I don’t mind when you go on for hours about how yer mum analyzes you, but I can see it might get some people down. And then there was that time when that bloke cut you off on the motorway. You didn’t talk about anything else for days. But he nearly killed me. I was in shock

Gucci Gucci Coo book. British Chick Lit-Great book, a little different for Sue Margolis. Still funny but not as gratuitous as usual. Proves that she can practice different styles of writing. Celebs using body suits to pretend they are pregnant while using surrogate mothers and claiming the babies were born the natural way. Also, celebs using body suits since they don't want to put any weight, favoring the now ultra thin mothers to be, those who lose the baby weight in less than a month.

Well it's a creative idea, as is Guatemalan week at Les Sprogs, the baby shop that Ruby and her posh cousin Stella manage; only Ruby is too tacky for Stella and she quits the partnership.

Dating a Gynecologist who delivers your 50 year old mom's newborn baby girl when you have 32 is also a creative take but the novel just didn't do it for me I was eager to put it down at any given moment when in reality when I am engrossed in a great read, I definitely cannot put the book down.

I would recommend it for people who have no other reading material and want to have 2 or 3 laughs. Just an OK book there's no other way to it.

I was pleasantly surprised after reading this book. The title put me off a bit at first. I expected it to be vapid, shallow chick-lit. Chick-lit it was, but with a lot more substance. It had heartwarming characters that developed throughout the book, and even a bit of mystery! I would really recommend it, and am looking forward to picking up some other books by the author.

Especially when Ruby thought that Sam was Cheating on her and He was so lying to her but he could not explaing what and she told him to leave and he didnt plea to not break off the relationship... Amazing and Again I want to read more about Ruby and Sam!!

The book itself was adorable except the cover was seperated from the book so it had to be trashed after reading it.
Prince Persie
There was nothing interesting or even funny in this book. It was painful to get through even if reading it while lying on the beach.

Thank you to Melissa Amster and the ladies at Chick Lit Central for a copy of Gucci, Gucci, Coo by Sue Margolis. I am so thankful when opportunities such as this happen. I get to share this fabulous book. Sue Margolis is not an author that I have read before. My readers are in for a great treat!
Synopsis:
Ruby runs a shop in the suburbs of London that sells fashionable babywear. She runs the shop with Chanel but her cousin Stella owns part of the shop as well. Ruby has to go for annual appointment at St. Luke’s hospital with her gynecologist. After the appointment she meets this American doctor. They seem to run into each other often. Ruby finally agrees to go out with him. She and the doctor find they have much in common. Jill works at St. Luke's Hospital in the maternity section. She asks Ruby to speak St. Luke’s Hospital. Her topic is about the needs of the baby after it has birthed. Once Ruby speaks the women of the group share their dieting plans. When a famous actress comes to the shop to do a little shopping Ruby makes a discovery about her pregnancy. Will these discoveries help or hurt her relationship with the doctor? Will he be able to keep his job at the hospital?
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this novel. The characters are well developed. They are interesting to get to know, and are entertaining. These characters have their flaws but it also makes for a more interesting read. The story is set in a suburb of London England. The story is told from Ruby’s point of view.
I was not too wild about Sue Margolis’s narration of this novel.

'Gucci Gucci Coo' is one step up from a cheap romance novel. That's not to say it's a horrible book, it's just that the writing is simplistic, and the story line is hackneyed. The attempt at creative plot development is weak, and the characters are too familiar. It seems like mostly a reformulated version of any number of other chick-lit novels.

The book starts out with the protagonist, Ruby, at the gynecologist's office. There are some very funny moments in those first few pages, and you're thinking, "This is going to be fun!" but the book digresses from there. Sue Margolis is unnecessarily wordy, and the extra words don't add anything to the story; however, her writing style is easy enough to follow, and even with the British colloquialisms and humor, it's not difficult to get. It's just that most of the time you're thinking- "Cut to the chase already!" The main character, Ruby, owns a chic children's clothing store and has some quirky friends and "Boho" parents. She meets a handsome American doctor, and, well, you know...they hook up. Her mother gets pregnant at 50, which you think will be amusing, but it's just sort of in the story, not the story. There are some comical moments (although they're not as funny as the time in the gyno's office), and there's a bit of a plot twist that keeps things going towards the end, but that's only near the end. The last 100 pages are the most interesting, and Sue Margolis could have condensed the first 250 pages into about 100 pages- 352 pages is too long to tell this story.

This book is not in the same league as other "chick-lit" novels by writers like Jennifer Weiner or Emily Giffin. It seems amateurish and dated, not fresh and inventive. If you like chick lit, check out `Something Borrowed' or `Something Blue' by Emily Giffin, or `Good In Bed' by Jennifer Weiner. Those books will have you reading from start to finish in one sitting.
