If you and your partner adopt most of the bidding methods recommended in the Guide to Better Duplicate Bridge and you regularly follow the guide-lines for declarer play and defence geared towards matchpoint thinking, you should find that your scores will improve significantly.

Duplicate bridge is the most widely used variation of contract bridge in club and tournament play. It is called duplicate because the same bridge deal (. the specific arrangement of the 52 cards into the four hands) is played at each table and scoring is based on relative performance. In this way, every hand, whether strong or weak, is played in competition with others playing identical cards, and the element of skill is heightened while that of chance is reduced

Not updated old conventions. Threw out. Then bought David Bird’s book and realized he uses British rules , Not ACBL. American contract bridge league needed in US for duplicate bridge. Another mistake!

a must read for any player. Unless you are already an expert, this book will improve your play

This book is an amazing storehouse of knowledge, and I believe that ANY bridge player will be very pleased to read it. It is sure to improve his game.

The book has decent coverage of duplicate strategies and conventions like weak twos, but nothing earth-shattering. There are two different editions - ACOL and Standard American, so make sure you get the right one.
For a better coverage of duplicate techniques, see "50 Winning Duplicate Tips", also by Klinger. That is an outstanding book!
