Would he ever notice her? All alone in the world, Cressida had little choice but to accept Aldrik van der Linus's help. But while he seemed happy to fix her up with a job, and even to try to help with her other problems, she couldn't help but wonder what he would do if she presented him with the most serious problems of all: unrequited love!

Betty’s first book, Sister Peters in Amsterdam, was published in 1969, and she eventually completed 134 books.

Betty’s first book, Sister Peters in Amsterdam, was published in 1969, and she eventually completed 134 books. Her novels offer a reassuring warmth that was very much a part of her own personality, and her spirit and genuine talent live on in all her stories.

A Happy Meeting book. It was so sweet and pleasant and absolutely wonderful. This is Betty Neels at her best! Cressida was such a sweetheart, I really loved her. She actually knew how to stand up for herself, unlike most Betty Neels heroines.

I have more Betty Neels books than any other author. I have been reading her books since I was 19 and I am going to be 63 very soon. The books are always more or less the same. They are small (9 chapters). 100 pages, sometimes more. They engage your interests with the first page. The books make me cry when the "hero" misunderstands the heroine's motives and fights her moves.
Now you have the basic Betty Neels book. If you need a book with a happy ending then this is a book for you. It's better than therapy. Do yourself a favor, buy all of her books. They are like crack cocaine, but much better for you.

Book Description: WOULD HE EVER NOTICE HER? All alone in the world, Cressida had little choice but to accept Aldrik van der Linus's help. But while he seemed happy to fix her up with a job, and even to try to help with her other problems, she couldn't help but wonder what he would do if she presented him with most serious problem of all:... Unrequited love!

This story lacks the British nurse; Cressida, Cinderella, is plain, unskilled, hard-working, and kind; Aldrik, the handsome Dutch Doctor, is Prince Charming. The wicked stepmother, the evil girl-friend with her evil aunt replaces the evil step-sisters to round out the story. A Neels Cinderella story her fans are sure to enjoy.

Tyco & Charity van der Brons from "The Final Touch" appear in this story; they are friends of Aldrik.

Additional Note: Aldrik and Cressida appear in "Dearest Love"; they are friends of Titus Taverner.

I love all the old fashioned sweet romances by Betty Neels. I read them all many years ago and am now reading them for the 2nd and even 3rd times on my Kindle. She wrote them all on a formula. Usually a romance between a Dutch doctor or professor and an English young lady. There is always some type of conflict that has to be settled before the happily ever after. No violence and no sexual content.

It was a well written and clean story. A very romantic and made you want to keep reading to see what happens. The author did a good job in writing this book.

I have been buying Betty Neels books for my mother (in her 70's) at her request, as an introduction to using a Kindle. I can say without hesitation that she loves all of these books. As she has said, "The plots may all be somewhat similar and the stories quaint, but I enjoy them immensely and find them endearing." What better recommendation could there be? And the Kindle Paperwhite? She loves the backlight and the ability to make the font larger.

I love the witchy stepmother and wannabe girlfriend stories. This one is prime. Would have loved a show off to the villains at the end though.

The secondary characters are nicely drawn, especially the ter Beemstras and Tyco and Charity, also Moggy. But the lead pair don’t have enough interaction between them to energize the plot.
I'm never disappointed when I read betty kneels,as soon as i read one and finish it I'm looking for another one.
