New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller writes the kind of high-spirited, totally absorbing novels that captivate us right to the last line.

Known for her fast-paced stories and delightful Katharine Hepburn-Spencer Tracy blend of wit and sexual tension, she creates characters who "walk right off the pages and into your heart" (Rendezvous).

Now Linda Lael Miller sweeps readers away -- and through time itself -- when a thoroughly modern woman encounters a dangerous, dashing eighteenth-century buccaneer. The result is a sensuous, joyous, utterly heartwarming tale of love....

Phoebe Turlow needs to get out of Seattle and forget about the man she just divorced, her dwindling finances, and the lonely nights that stretch ahead of her. But she can't foresee what awaits her on Paradise Island....

Duncan Rourke is known to historians as "the pirate patriot." He's been dead for two centuries -- or at least he's supposed to be, until Phoebe Turlow steps out of a van, into a run-down island hotel, and into his world.

Neither Phoebe nor her pirate can envision the glorious adventure that is about to unfold. They understand only that they have found each other, and a grand passion, across the chasm of time...and they fear only the moment when it may vanish. Passionate, emotional, and completely entrancing, Pirates will steal your heart.

Linda Lael Miller sweeps readers away-and through time itself-when a thoroughly modern woman encounters a dangerous, dashing eighteenth-century buccaneer. With a title like that, I was expecting some energetic high seas action, but there was only one single scene where anything of a truly pirate-y nature occurred, and it was over almost before it started with little excitement or fanfare.

The wires of the harpsichord still hummed a feeble lament when a door slammed soundly in the distance.

Instead, she ran the ringers of her right hand over the pristine ivory keys, gently, as if to soothe the instrument, and a tinkling spray of forlorn and fragile notes rose in the wake. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Old Woman, brown hands folded, face as serene as an angel’s, keeping her silent vigil.

Talk about Pirates

Bladebringer
Following the painful dissolution of her marriage, Phoebe Turlow travels to a Caribbean island. There she journeys back in time and meets the notorious, dashing pirate Duncan Rourke. Neither Phoebe nor her pirate can envision the glorious adventure that is about to begin. They understand only that they have found each other and a grand passion, across the chasm of time... and they fear only the moment when it may vanish again.

Wow, what an utterly captivating and unforgettable romance! This story drew me in from the very beginning and held me spellbound the entire time. Though it starts out in 1995, most of it takes place in 1780, during the American Revolution. From the Caribbean Islands to South Carolina to the open seas, this tale had it all - adventure, passion, heartbreak and betrayal. Phoebe and Duncan practically jumped off the pages and then there was his best friend, as well as the entire lovable Rourke family, and the mysterious and wise "Old Woman" who I adored! There's also a jealous ex-lover, a rival pirate, and the British military to deal with. In the end this book filled me with a riot of emotions, including laughter and tears. The connection and chemistry between Duncan and Phoebe was soul touching and honestly one of the most beautiful and lovely romances I've read in quite some time. Ms. Miller is a truly gifted storyteller and I'd not only recommend this book, but its also going on my keeper shelf!
