I love Lucy Gordon books but this one I did not love or even like. It took me days to get through it and by page 120 I was skipping paragraphs and zooming ahead. The atmosphere of this book made me feel like I was in the 18th century. It truly made no sense to me compared to other Harlequins I have. I'm sitting trying to think of something good to say and I'm speechless so I will just say don't bother.

Good I liked it.....

A rare HP with an amazing Hero of depths and a carefree, in-your-face h. Lysandros is a tortured soul and Pietra is a breezy optimist who unbalances his cynical attitude. They develop a fantastic getting-to-know-you friendship. Their dates are free of innuendos which makes it enjoyable read. I enjoy Pietra's personal strengths and goodness and it's fascinating to see Lysandros slowly unraveling in her ability to make him laugh and loosen up (even though it blows him away that she is straight up with her observations. No-one dare talks to him the way she does lol)
The only dodgy bit is the step-brother, a nasty piece of goods. The confrontations, especially the final life threatening situ is clumsy and a bit overdone. I found the 'bugging' was a huuuuge stretch of reality. But the recovery is beautifully, beautifully written so I kept this at five stars.

Well, what can I say. Despite the as ever ridiculous tycoon title, it is very difficult to believe that this is a Harlequin.
The heroine is a mature, divorced non virgin with a real job and does not take abuse, being ignored or browbeaten as a sign of eternal love. Granted the hero is a brooder, but he is also a lost soul in search of love and lightness. Character development folks!

There are a few of the tropes that live in Harley land, but overall this was a pretty impressive piece of work..Hats off to you, Ms. Gordon.heroine

A very different storyline from the usual. Highly emotive in a very different way but beautiful. I recommend this book be read in your heart space.

I have read a few novels by Lucy Gordon and so far all her work is well-written, and departs somewhat from the Harlequin "formula" of arrogant protagonists and trembling, shy virgin heroines.

This story maybe went on a little too long, but was a good read. The writing flowed well and I cared about the characters. It starts out with the hero and heroine meeting as teenagers/young adults. The hero is going through a broody/sulky stage (brought on by a pretty awful trauma, we learn later) and his encounter with the spunky teenaged heroine helps him through a personal crisis, and enables him to see things a little clearer so he can move on.

Fast forward 15 years, and the hero is functioning "okay," but has a reputation for coldness and remoteness. He doesn't trust easily--or at all. He encounters the heroine again. This time she's more confident, already had a marriage and divorce under her belt (in other words, is not the typical Harlequin Presents trembling virgin) and while she seems pretty easy-going on the surface, she has her own hidden emotional "baggage" as well.

The rest of the novel follows their journey of finding each other, and finding a way to connect again. Of course there has to be a villain, and conflict, but mostly the novel focuses on their relationship.

I found this story to be satisfying, and enjoyable to read. Don't get your hopes up *too* high (we are talking about Harlequin Presents, after all) but enjoy it for what it is.

authors writing style not easy to read. includes details that takes away from plot. relies too heavily on greek myth to move story along.
