Taking its first peek at Uranus, NASA Hubble Space Telescope's Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) has detected six distinct clouds in images taken July 28, 1997. Hubble also captured eight moons in this image. Little is known about Rosalind, one of several satellites discovered by Voyager 2 as it flew by Uranus in 1986. Rosalind is one of Uranus' inner moons and has a radius of about 22 miles (36 kilometers). How Rosalind Got its Name. Originally designated S/1986 U4, Rosalind was named for the daughter of a banished Duke in Shakespeare's play "As You Like I.

Rosalind is an inner satellite of Uranus. She was discovered by Voyager 2 on January 13, 1986, and her former name was S/1986 U 4. Rosalind belongs to Portia's group of satellite's which also includes Bianca, Cressida, Desdemona, Portia, Juliet, Cupid, Belinda, and Perdita. These satellites have similar orbits and photometric properties. Other than her orbit, radius of 36 km. Rosalind is grey in color. Rosalind has a very close orbital resonance with Cordelia.
