Caroline Arnold, Richard Hewett. Caroline Arnold always loved books, but as a child she never thought of writing as a career. A new addition to a series on baby zoo animals follows Mguu, a baby bactrian camel, as he displays his strength and his ability to endure extreme temperatures and a harsh environment. Born in Pittsburgh, she grew up in Minneapolis and studied art at Grinnell College and the University of Iowa. It was only after my children were born that I became acquainted with children's books and it occurred to me that I could use my training to become a children's book illustrator.

Caroline Arnold (Author), Richard Hewett (Photographer). Small quibbles won't detract from this book's usefulness and attractiveness. Hewett's charming full-color photographs succeed in making this admittedly odd-looking animal as engaging as the other more cuddly creatures in the series. A well-rounded look at the hippopotamus for unsophisticated readers, and one that most libraries will want to consider.
