Another 5 stars. Earl's story lines are fantastic. Its like you are in the story, watching from the sideline.
Barinirm
I grew up in Seattle which may make me a bit biased.
Wiliniett
Wonderful characters and description of settings.

not a strong story teller. Story line is weak. As the plot progresses it becomes increasingly boring and uninteresting. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Emerson does a great job with dialogue, making his characters seem very real. I wouldn't want to live Thomas Black's life, but I would very much like to have him as a friend.
Hamrl
Snake is a mess on legs, and about the last person a PI should take on as a client, but that's what makes this a good story.

This is by far the funniest book in the Thomas Black series. About page 2 I gave up laughing and went right to snorting. And the mystery was pretty darned good, too. If you only read one book by Earl Emerson (and if you stop at one, your next stop should be a shrink), this one is the "must read."
This was my first Earl Emerson read. The characters were likeable enough, but it just didn't get it for me. If you want some REALLY good P.I. books, try Dennis Lehane, he rocks!
