Hot off the publication of Bones, the winner of the Edgar Award for Best Novel, Jan Burke explodes onto the suspense scene with Flight, featuring the hard-edged Detective Frank Harriman, husband of Jan's beloved series heroine Irene Kelly.

A family is found murdered. In a cruel twist, one of the Las Piernas Police Department's own, Philip Lefebvre, is suspected of killing the only witness. When that detective disappears, a crime boss goes free. And the LPPD is forever changed.

Called in to investigate the wreckage of the missing detective's plane, Frank Harriman is given a set of cold cases that have suddenly become white hot. Detective Harriman's conviction that the LPPD tagged the wrong murder suspect is wildly unpopular. Alone, his instincts and integrity questioned at every turn, Harriman must stop the killer before hundreds of lives, including Harriman's own, are lost.

Flight is a heart-pounding marriage of Jan Burke's "intricate plotting" (Washington Times), "chilling suspense" (Clive Cussler), and trademark "crisp, crackling prose" (Library Journal) that will thrill newcomers and veteran Burke fans, cover to cover.

Terrific mystery. Ms Burke does a masterful job developing her characters and keeping the reader involved. This book briefly starts in one decade- and quickly jumps into the next- where most of the readers time is spent. without spoiling the book - this has everything from murder and mayhem to corruption in the police department. With a little romance thrown in to further keep the reader on his toes. this is my first book by Jan Burke, but I intend to catch up quickly with all those readers who have known her for years.
Kitaxe
This was my first experience with a Jan Burke book. She's a gifted author. She has a way of making you feel like your watching a movie, while reading her words. At times, I felt like the
'dialogue' was too lengthy, but it's still a great mystery thriller.
Note: there a a lot of characters to keep up with - you may want to keep notes of 'who's-who' - it'll help.

I just discovered Jan Burke 's books and cannot stop reading them. It's kind of nice that her book's are new to me as there are so many to catch up on, but by the same token, I can't believe I missed her writing all these years.

The book grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go.
I was immersed in the story right till the end. I am now looking forward to my next Jan Burke fix. Don't miss this book, it's one of her very best!

Flight spans ten years; and is a very enjoyable read. Not too easy, not at all predictable, but totally believable. I cared about some characters, and disliked some, but all of them were totally real and well fleshed out. My first Jan Burke book, and not my last. Highly recommend to readers who like a police-centered mystery with a tiny bit of romance, with strong, but fallible characters.

A good read - absorbing and suspenseful. Interesting characters, good and evil, who hide their secrets for a long time.
Too bad for the young boy and his mother that there was no happy ending except for clearing Phil's name.

Very good book. A must read for the mystery lovers! Nerdy enjoyable and didn't quite know how the bad guy was going to get caught.

Jan Burke's done it again. If you are not a fan of his, you will be after reading this. I love the characters - Frank Harriman and Irene Kelley & Jack & all the others too. Can't wait to read more of his books.
