John B. Logan (born January 23, 1923, Red Oak, Iowa – died November 6, 1987, San Francisco, California) was an American poet and teacher. Logan was born in Red Oak, Iowa. He earned a bachelor's degree from Coe College, his master's degree from the Iowa University, and did graduate work at Georgetown University and the University of Notre Dame in philosophy.

Recipient Morton Wauwen Zabel award National Institute Arts and Letters, 1974; Lenore Marshall poetry award, 1982; Rockefeller Foundation fellow, 1969; Guggenheim Foundation fellow, 1979; National Endowments Arts fellow, 1980. Tutor St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland, 1947-1951. Associate professor English Notre Dame University, 1951-1963. Professor English San Francisco State University, 1965-1966, State University of New York, Buffalo, 1966-1982.

Logan was the author of fourteen books of poetry 1963-1968 (1973).

Logan was the author of fourteen books of poetry. Among his most well-known books are Spring of the Thief (1963), The Bridge of Change (1979), and Only the Dreamer Can Change the Dream, which won the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize in 1982. John Logan taught at many colleges and universities, and from 1966 to 1985 was an English professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
