Domination in 2545 Studies Ghenrikh Kasparyan. This classic work was first published in Russia in 1974 and then in English in 1980. It soon captured the imagination of serious chess players around the world. This work was produced in the era where computers were as yet of little use, making it a truly a monumental undertaking. It includes endgame studies of many of the finest chess composers in the world (primarily Russian). It became an indispensable training tool for generations of Russian Masters. Genrikh was an International Master and 10 time Armenian Champion.

This is a great book that will serve the serious player for many, many years it's divided in artistic endgames and analytic endgames that occur . I work with this book and train with it at home with a clock and set the studies are tough.

This is a great book that will serve the serious player for many, many years it's divided in artistic endgames and analytic endgames that occur in actual games the major theme of the book is "dominating" opponents pieces or trapping them. The book is in descriptive otation that's a non issue for me but it could be for other players the diagrams in the book are the old style

This is a classic - no doubt! Read the other reviews for more details on the contents.

However, if you want a decent copy your best bet is to find the original 1980 hardback edition as a used book. The diagrams are very small, but very legible nonetheless. Besides you will likely want to set up the pieces on a board anyway, so not a problem. But the paperback re-issue apparently has somewhat fuzzy/muddy diagrams according to other reviewers - ugh! My 1980 hardback has nice sharp diagrams throughout - that is the way to go. I can see why a sharp clear copy is absolutely necessary since the Bishop and Pawn fonts are very similar - it would be very easy to confuse the two if the picture is even slightly fuzzy. Again, my original hardback is perfectly sharp and easy to read.

I'm a 2nd category player who picked up this book because of a Baadur Jobava interview on ChessBase where he recommended doing 3 hours of tactics and 3 hours of studies a day. Now I don't approach that but these studies are amazingly aesthetic. 100 studies in and thoroughly enjoying it. The studies are challenging but not overwhelming...although some of them run 15+ moves deep! The only question is will I be able to finish this text in my lifetime?!

This is THE best book for endgame puzzles. No theory just thought provoking end game studies thematically presented. A must have book in every Chess Library. I first found this 30 years ago in Russian. I couldn't read the text but fortunately I didn't have too. Keep it on your kitchen table to solve a problem with your coffee every morning, should be good for 7 years!

The book is good, there is a huge amount of exercises to practice. However, the print quality is so poor, but SO poor that I can barely read the boards.

Amazing! The whole world should know how great this guy is at endgame studies and compositions - very instructive! Kasparyan is the Shakespeare of chess endgames.

About solving endgames problems, i've never seen a book that came closer the high quality you can find at this one.
Domination is, with no doubts, the best book at this kind.
This book is good for my preparation. I love it
