Each lesson is drafted with perfection of clarity for a detailed structural and functional understanding of human anatomy that one can take into the live drawing session from the model. This book is a great complement to Bridgeman. The draftsmanship that went into making this book is the best I have ever seen for any figure drawing instruction book (and I have an extensive library.

If you are seeking a book which clearly, visually explains the artistic structure of the human figure, then you need look no further. I speak and read minimal Italian and this book is written completely in Italian. However, the illustrations and diagrams in it are so explicit that the information which is shown is totally understandable and comprehensible by sheer visual analysis. As a figure drawing and anatomy instructor for over twenty five years, and having had Burne Hogarth, Joseph Sheppard, Joe Kubert, and Glenn Vilppu among my teachers, I unequivocally say that this is the best book on the subject of the artistic structure and construction of the human body that I have found.

Beware, this is not a general reference guide. It has some benefit as a reference and certainly has some decent drawings in it, but you can do much better for both drawings and reference in countless english language volumes, for example Michael Hampton's "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention is light years better in every regard. What this book is -- course or curriculum text. It is obviously designed to be supported by instruction, so on its own if flops. There are some exercises one can follow, but outside of constructive feedback it fails. The fact that it is written in Italian complicates and confuses matters. The vendor should really be honest. IN ADDITION: Caveat Emptor/Buyers beware: the vendor will not reimburse you return costs to England! So if you don't like it, you will have spent 1/3 the price of the book in shipping costs alone, and I expect 90% of purchasers will want to return the item. Finally, Beginner/novice/ and intermediate artists should not buy it, it's a waste for you. Advanced artists should buy it only if they are taking a course.

I love this book. Cost a bunch, but it's a great reference book for technical brake down of anatomy. It's written in Italian so can make out the righting but I bought it for the images anyway.
