Compelling storytelling. a novel of passion and betrayal set aginast the Second World War' (Woman & Home). It has been a long time since I have been so captivated by a book. I thoroughly enjoyed The Heart of the Night and look forward to reading more from Judith Lennox. Lennox's prose is detailed but never overly dense and powerful when describing prosaic scenes. This is a beautiful tale of war through a new vantage point (Sunday Express). Judith Lennox writes powerful family dramas which will appeal to fans of Kate Morton and Elizabeth Winthrop. The two girls become firm friends, and when Miranda falls in love with a young Parisian, Kay helps her keep the relationship secret. But Konstantin learns of the affair and promptly dismisses Kay, leaving her penniless and stranded in Nazi Berlin.

Another excellent novel by Judith Lennox! This it the third novel that I have red written by Judith Lennox and I am so impressed by her writing style. She is able to hold the reader through many characters, twists & turns in The Heart of the Night! Set in the early 1900's, you see Bess as a young girl whose father has raised her. She marries early, has a child and tragedy strikes. Her decision haunts her for the rest of her life. Bess makes many mistakes throughout her life but she makes every effort to put her family first! Love, hate, trust, deceit, cruelty, friendships, crimes, secrets, travel, war and much more. It was hard for me to put down this novel because I wanted to find out what happened to Maxwell and Frazier!

ONE OF THE "BEST" READS IN A LONG TIME....AND I READ A LOT, ABOUT BOOK A WEEK. WHAT I LIKE IS, NOT ONLY A GOOD STORY LINE, BUT INFORMATIVE AS WELL. I WOULD RANK HER AS ONE OF THE GREAT WRITERS AND RESEARCHERS.
I WOULD COMPARE HER WITH AUTHORS SUCH AS: " CHARLOTTE BINGHAM", "CATHERINE COOKSON" - "LESLEY PEARSE"...BRYCE COURTENAY...AND TOO MANY MORE TO MENTION.
I HAVE READ MOST OF HER BOOK AND ENJOYED ALL OF THEM.

In 1936 Kay Garland has started work for Konstantin Denisov's as a companion for daughter Miranda. After Miranda fall in love with a man, Kay loses her position with the family and is only able to get home with Tom Blacklock. The years past by as now Miranda is married to a German and the war has come. The women survive the war and soon will be reunited but the past always is far behind.
"The Heart of the Night" by Judith Lennox is a pretty good book. Yes, by the middle of the book I had a good idea on how the book was going to end but it was a nice journey getting there.
BOOOOOOORING TOO MANY CHARACTERS TO KEEP TRACK OF. REPETITIVE, ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS I EVER READ I AM AMAZED THAT I FINISHED IT I GUESS THAT I WAS HOPING IT WOULD GET BETTER, UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT.
